Aug. 1. Certificate by Capt. William Badiley, Thomas Skynner, secretary to the Merchant Adventurers, and others that Edward Bason, who is desirous of employment in the King's service, was several years master's mate and pilot of good ships to Hamburg and elsewhere and sometimes commanded a good ship of his own and is reputed an able mariner. The Navy Commissioners to Mr. Randoph. We understand that several persons about you have considerable quantities of timber to sell. If any of them desire to sell to his Majesty, we will treat with them, if they repair to our office, at reasonable rates. [Ibid. No. 16.]
