Oct. 1. Extracts of fines, forfeitures and amerciaments made at a court leet and court baron for the Honour of Ampthill held that day, most of them for not appearing at the court. There are three for breaking the assize of bread, three for forestalling and several for "blowing of veal" and two fines on admittances to cottages. [2 pages. S.P. Supplementary 135, No. 79.]
Oct. 2. Extracts of fines, forfeitures and amerciaments made at a court leet and court baron for the manors of Shefford and Campton held on that day, most of them for not appearing at the court, several for breaking the assize of bread, one for exposing light butter to sale and one for setting up a signpost on the waste. [Ibid. No. 80.]
Oct. 10. Appointment by Francis Becher of Elvestone and Thomas Whitbread, churchwardens and on the death of Christopher Hall, the late curate, appointed sequestrators of the parish of Elstowe, of Henry Gouldsmith of Eversholt to be their agent to receive of the auditors 8l. payable to a curate annually towards his maintenance, they having taken care that the said cure has been duly served by a lawful minister. Oct. 22. Debentures to the vicars of Goldington, Westoning, Salford, Soulbury, Old Warden and Little Worwood (Horwood), to Henry Gouldsmith, agent of the sequestrators of the parish of Elneston, and to Roger Griffith, master of the grammar school at Buckingham, for various sums due to them for the year ended Michaelmas last. With receipts for the same, some at the foot of the debentures and some on separate pieces of paper. [Ibid. Nos. 82–93.]
