Table VII.

Passes, Post Warrants, And Licences of Absence.
The passes are, in the great majority of cases, to one or more persons to go to Holland. They are issued on the recommendation of some person or persons, whose names are in this Table given in italics at the end of the entry. In a very few cases the full pass is set out, and these are shewn by the letters (f.p.) in italics at the end of the entry. Otherwise the entry consists only of a note giving the name of the person licensed to pass, and the name of the person or persons who recommend him. When the pass is to go elsewhere than to Holland, a note of the destination is given in the Table.
The post warrants are shewn as such in the Table, but are not placed in a separate part of the Table. In the original they are entered indiscriminately amongst the Passes. The second part of the Table (Licences of absence) needs no prefatory note.
