Paris.
18. William Lacy to his brother, Ralph Lacy, Preston, in Amounderness. I have safely arrived in Paris, where the charges are very great. I fear I shall not tarry long, as my friends will be slack in sending me my own. I wrote you before leaving England about the lease of Ralaye's farm, granted us in trust for the use of my sister Barbara's children; assist them if you can. My sister should have the rent for life, not my nephews, Robert and William; the present tenant has enjoyed it wrongfully long enough. [¾ page.]

June 17.
Gloucester.
19. Margaret Partridge to her father Rich. Oseley of the Privy Signet. The bearer, Master Hands, is registrar of Gloucester, and wished me to Gloucester to teach children to sew, and the book, with the virginals, for there was small good to be done at Worcester after my husband died, and if you had not shown your fatherly good will, I and his children had perished, for he left me nothing, as all was seized upon; but I have discharged myself of his children, and trust I shall now be the better able to live. I wish to buy a pair of virginals, and then, with the help of God and this my good friend, I shall be glad to take pains. I desire your aid, as my brother and sister have not the means, although they have the will. [1 page.]
