70. John Newton, John Sturge, and Wm. Rowswell to Lord Chancellor Rich. We have taken a view of Bagrudge farm, which Joan Osborn, widow, now holds, and of St. John's farm held by Wm. Craiche, and enclose books of particulars of each, by which you will know the number of acres, fertility or barrenness, number of cattle each may keep, yearly rents reserved on the leases, how long they have to run, and how much they are worth yearly over and above expenses. You will thus see how much Bagrudge farm is better than St. John's, and besides the mansion of Bagrudge is a fair house. [1½ pages.] Enclose,
