Feb. 26 ? 48. William Garnett to [Jas. Pilkington, Bishop of Durham]. Particulars of the birth, stillborn, of a monstrous child, or rather two children, born 20 Feb. 1562, at Ryton Woodside, near Newcastle, of Isabel Winter, joined together from the collar-bone downward through the body, but with four arms and legs, &c. It was shown on a stone outside my church on St. Mathias' day [Feb. 24]. and my parishioners and many others saw it.[1 page. Endorsed by Bishop Pilkington.]
