Subsidy.

L. 2a. B. - SUBSIDY. -

Sir Jo. Harpur : - That no Parliament-men may be made Collectors.

Mr. James : - That the Cinque Ports shall pay.

Mr. Alford: - That Ease of Grievances may be no Motive of Subsidy.

Men take Houses in London, after leave them; dwell in the Country; are assessed still in London. - At a Committee to be considered. -

The former Order, that Provisoes should be brought in in Writing.

Mr. Finch, - for the Privilege of the Ports.

Q. Whether the Proviso for the Cinque Ports to be stroken out. - Resolved, To stand.

Mr. Pulleston, - for a Proviso to have the Subsidy for Wales and Chester suspended, until the Myses were gathered.

The Proviso of Wales, read twice : - Resolved, upon Question.

Sir Raph Gray offereth a Proviso for the Four Northern Counties.

Sir Raphe Gray, - in Defence of the Proviso.

Proviso for the Four Counties not to be added.

Proviso for Newcastle rejected.

Sir John Sammes - To have the Proviso for the Universities to be stroken out, in respect of some scandalous Words uttered by some of them.

Q. Whether the Proviso touching the Two Universities, shall stand.

The Letter written by one Fotherby to Mr. Martin, or, in his Absence, to Mr. Hoskins, from Cambridge. - Cambridge.

Mr. Attorney to pen Letters to be directed to them for Satisfaction : Sir. Martin and Mr. Hoskins to attend him.
