Conference deferred.

Mr. D. Hone and Mr. D. Amye pray the Meeting may be put off till Ten a Clock, by reason of some Occasions.

Mr. Chancellor, Mr. Attorney, Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Martin, Sir Roger Owen, Sir Edwyn Sandys, Mr. Alford, Mr. Tate, Sir Geo. Moore, Sir H. Nevill, Sir Antho. Cope, Mr. Chancellor of the Duchy, Sir Rob. Oxenbridge, Sir Maurice Berkley, Mr. Hoskins, to consider presently of the Matter of Conference, and the Heads to be propounded.

Spanish Cloth.

Mr. Hoskins: - That One hath brought good Manufacture of Spanish Cloth: - That it may be looked on by some Clothiers of this House; and that some Encouragement; the Party pretending, that it will make it more vendible.

Sir S. Proctor.

Sir Wm. Maynard, - touching Sir Stephen Proctor, - That we might take some Course for the Furtherance of the Bill above.

Sir Tho. Holcroft, - to have him exempted out of the Pardon.

Bills.

Mr. Fuller delivereth in sundry Bills.

Tenures,&c.

Sir Geo. Moore, - from the Committee; - that first the Lords may be moved to join with us, as Parties, not as Furtherers. -

That out of our Lore, we have offered 20,000l. more; therefore they hope the King will admit any other Project, during this Contract, not concerning the King in Honour in Point of Sovereignty.

Sir Edwyn Sandys: - To propound.

Sir Maurice Berkley, - for Three Motions - That it may be remembered, the Honour, the Dignity, the Profit of the great Officer. - No Subject in the World departeth with a greater. - Doth concur.

A Motion, that we are desirous, no more may be laid upon the Land; than 100,000l. - This not thought fit.

Message.

Message, that the Lords stayed for us.

Conference.

The Committees for Conference, met presently.

The Conference ended, the Committees returned.

Mr. Recorder being ready to report, it was much disputed, whether to be this Afternoon, or To-morrow.

Conference - Sir S. Proctor, &c.

Mr. D. Hone and Mr. D. Amye, - from the Lords: - That, at the Conference, a new Conference was moved; which they desire may be with as Much Speed as may be. At the same Conference the Bill of Sir Stephen Proctor may be handled.

Answ. We have not yet received any Report of the late Conference; when we have, we will, with Expedition, give them Answer ; and, for Sir Stephen Proctor, we will be ready at the Time of the next Conference.

The Clerk, &c.

Sir Edwyn Sandys: - That the Clerk may continue his Pains in registring the Acts of the House; and that some extraordinary Reward may be thought on for his Pains.

Quest. Those that do not now pay, to pay 20 s. at the next Meeting: - Resolved, resolutely; and an Order to be conceived to that Purpose.

Ten Pounds to be disposed to the Poor, of that which shall be collected.

Mr. Martin: - Whether at the Conference, we shall deliver all Particulars touching Sir Stephen Proctor.

Sir Tho. Holcroft, Mr. Speaker: - That we are to deliver all in particular.

Mr. Alford, Sir Roger Owen: - That no Particulars, no Account; but only a general Defence of the Bill.

Sir Dudley Diggs: - That presently the Lords might. -

Mr. Recorder: - That the Proofs apparent: - The Accuser and Accused Face to Face. -

To defend the Bill generally.

Mr. Recorder reporteth. - Sir Edwyn Sandys Delivery of 200,000l.

The Matter pro concesso, that, the Contract concluded, no breaking, for Two Respects: 1. To prevent Misconstruction : 2. To pre-occupate any Variation when we meet again. - The Lords had entertained it. -

Act to declare our Agreements: - Their Desire to do as we had done.

- Forwardness in all the King's Counsel. - The Officers of the Wards for this Business. -

All Things in Point of Contract, to be demonstrable in certis terminis.

Not to leave any thing to Alteration at our next Meeting. -

1. What fit for our Body to do to the Head.

2. What fit for the Body to desire of the Head. -

Not fit the King should seek. -

Act in both Houses ; Ordinances in the Lords House, with the King's Assent. -

If Mecaenas and Agrippa had lived I had not been thus advised.

No concealed Wards - till our next Access. - Old Debts. - The Patentees to surcease till then.

Conceived, that my Lord Treasurer meant, that no Difficulty in the Levy, no Difference in the Assurance, should break off the Bargain.
