Jan. 3 Letter of direction on an order of 1669, March 25, for 5,000l. to John Wadlow and John Sayers. Warrants Early XIX. p. 93.
Appending:—Copy of endorsement by Paul Pawley and John Basnett assigning said order (on the 310,000l. Wine Act) to Sir Robert Howard for the King in consideration of the transfer of the said sum to and the making it payable out of the Hearthmoney.
Jan. 9 Treasury warrant to Sir W. Godophin, Auditor of Wales, and to the Receiver General [of Crown revenues] for South Wales to discharge the arrear of 402l. 12s 0d. due to the King from Sir John Vaughan, now Lord Vaughan, assignee of Richard, Earl of Carbery, farmer of the Orignal Seal and Pre Fines of the counties of South Wales at 60l. 4s. 0d. per an.. and of the Post Fines there at 74l. per an. on three years' farm rents thereof to Sept. 29 last: same be remitted in virtue of his good and acceptable services to the King. Royal sign manual for payment of the old arrears of the Customs. By a sign manual of Oct. 31 last, the interest of Sir John Shaw et al. in the customs farm ended Sept. 29 last, and Sir Nicholas Crispe's interest in the farm of Spice were sequestered. Pursuant hereto the Treasury warrant of Nov. 3 last was issued. But we have since accepted from said Shaw et al. 30,000l. in settlement of our claim on said farm [sic for claim for arrear of rent due on the farm of the Customs ended 1667, Sept. 29]. Therefore the abovesaid seizure, sequestration and stop is hereby discharged. Further there is charged in the Receipt several warrants and orders amounting to 42,732l. 13s. 6d. payable out of the arrears due from said Sir John Shaw et al. Of this sum the various warrants and orders amounting in all to 30,000l.ut supra p. 1,179 are to be paid notwithstanding the stop of the Exchequer. The remainder amounting to 12,732l. 13s. 6d. is hereby ordered to be paid out of the sale of fee farms as follows, viz.:— Ibid, pp. 37–41.

Feb. 12 Treasury warrant to the Excise Commissioners, &c., to allow to Peter Calvert and Samuell Vincent, late Farmers of Excise of Durham, Northumberland, Westmorland and Cumberland, 13l. 18s. 3d. for half a year's interest of their advance money, they having constantly paid their rent on the days prefixed. In pursuance of the letters patent of Jan. 20 last (ordering the stop of the Exchequer) you are to make no payments on any tallies or warrants whatsoever, bearing date before Dec. 18 last. July 19 The Treasury Lords to the King's Remembrancer to supersede process against Sir Richard Ford. Kt., on certain debentures amounting to 282l. 7s. 6d. for goods exported before the Restoration: which were by him presented to the late Customs Commissioners for their allowance, which they had not power then to do, "and the late Lord Treasurer judging the allowance thereof in that notion might be an ill precedent for many greater sums depending thereon he obtained only a verbal order from his Lordship to the said Commissioners (as is alleged) for payment thereof as for special service done by him to His Majesty, notwithstanding which the same being now in super on his account process are issued out against him."
