Jan 21. Petition from William Paulet, collector of Cardiff port, praying leave of absence. Ordered: six months' leave granted him "especially since I understand by the Lord Pawlet his usefulness unto His Majesties service in that county." [Early Entry Book X. p. 350.]
Jan. 25. The incidents bill for the Excise Office for 1666, Xmas quarter, read and entered. (Total 491l. 12s. 2d.) Ordered: to be allowed by the Auditor of Excise. [Ibid. XII. pp. 227–8.]
