Richard Mounteney, senr., of the moneys arising
by sale of ships and goods taken and condemned
as prize, the one [account] beginning Dec. 25, 1671,
and ending 1673, March 25, and the other beginning
1673, March 25, and ending 1675, July 10, upon
which supers process issued and issues are returned
against Shales by the sheriff of Middlesex : the
present warrant being by reason that said Shales
is now upon [his] account before Auditor Sir Richard
Langley for said supers and for several other sums

killing of Alexander Christopher : with restitution
of lands and goods, etc., said Thomas having
been lately by accident in the company of said
Christopher and others in the parish of Llanbethian
co. Glamorgan, when said Christopher grew very
abusive and quarrelsome with some of that
company, and being removed out of the room,
received divers blows from some of the company,
whereof [he] soon after died ; whereupon said
Thomas was twice indicted, but neither of the
bills was found against him by the grand jury
as appears by the report of the senior Justice of
the Great Sessions for said County upon said
Thomas's petition thereon to the King : the
present grant being to prevent malicious prosecutions
for the future.

in the time of our greatest danger after our escape

Commissioners in reply to their representation of the
28th inst. You are to repay to Charles Loreing
merchant, the difference between the duty of a hogshead
of 25 tons [sic] of French wine and that of
a hogshead of lees, same appearing by the affidavit
of the cooper to be lees. I once more signify my
approval of your order of Jan. 19 last to the patent
searchers of Gravesend, having heard what was
alleged on behalf of the said searchers by their
counsel, and being fully satisfied that it will be
for his Majesty's service to enjoin their obedience
to the said order.

Report to the King from Treasurer Danby on a draft
letter dated May, 1677 [from the King] to the Lord
Lieutenant of Ireland ; said letter being to the
following effect. The salary or entertainment allowed
to Roger, Earl of Orrery as President of Munster by
his patent exceeds the allowance for same in the late
establishment [of Ireland, in the item for pay] of his
salary by about 72l. per an. By a royal letter dated
Whitehall, 1674, May 9, it was ordered that the
said 72l. or so much as the said late [Irish] establishment
was [as to this item] short of the old [Irish]
establishment should be forthwith added and inserted
in the said late establishment. And yet in
the present establishment notwithstanding, the item
for said Earl's salary is the same as first entered in
the said late establishment. At the request of said
Earl so much as above is hereby ordered to be inserted
in the present establishment [of Ireland] and
that the same from and after Sept. 29 next be paid
to him in the same portions and times as the rest
of the establishment is, and the arrears of the same
from the commencement of the present establishment
to Sept. 29 next are to be paid him by the
Vice-Treasurer of Ireland out of such money as the
Lord Lieutenant of Ireland shall appoint. The
above draft letter being referred to Treasurer
Danby, May 17, by Secretary Coventry, Treasurer
Danby hereby approves same.
