Mar. 1. Treasurer Danby directs 2,000l. [to be issued] to the Office of the Works and 1,000l. to the Wardrobe to supply their pressing occasions : [these issues to be made] out of the advance of the Chimney money [Contractors' payment due] at Midsummer next.

Mar. 10. Treasurer Danby directs that one order No. 92, for 20,000l. registered on the 412,925l. [part of the 18 Months' tax] in the name of Sir John James etc. [as Receivers etc. of Excise] and another order No. 93 for 10,000l. on the same register in the same names, which orders they have assigned to Mr. Anthony Segar in part of 100,000l. which they give credit for, be delivered to Mr. Anthony Stephens for him to borrow money on for the uses of the Navy, viz. :—

To buy stores to complete the three ships in docks 3,000 0 0

To pay [victualling] bills of Sir Tho. Clutterbuck 8,000 0 0
and when he [Stephens] has agreed with the lenders at [interest] not exceeding 10 per cent. Mr. Segar is to assign [said orders] to them [said lenders].
In the margin : Delivered by Mr. Bertie accordingly.
Treasurer Danby directs that Mrs. Elizabeth Elliot be paid her future payments of her 500l. per an. as pension and 200l. per an. as Housekeeper [ol the King's house] at Newmarket [at the same time as and along] with the Grooms of the Bedchamber.

Mar. 14. Treasurer Danby directs that two other orders No. 81 and No. 95 for respectively 2,000l. and 8,200l. [registered] on the land [or Eighteen Months'] tax and assigned by Sir John James etc. [as Receivers of Excise] to Mr. Segar be delivered to Mr. Stephens to borrow money on for the Victuallers upon their declarations for this year's victualling.
In the margin : Delivered accordingly by Mr. Bertie the same day.

Mar. 17. Treasurer Danby directs 10,000l. more of the 70,000l. payable by Mr. Dashwood and partners for the first payment of their advance [on their new farm of the Excise] to be paid to Mr. Kingdon for the service of the new raised Forces, who have had thereout already 33,000l. and 12,352l. 9s. 6d.

Mar. 21. Treasurer Danby directs that 10,000l. in part of an order No. 94 for 20,000l. (which is part of the sum not exceeding 100,000l. assigned by Sir John James and Major Huntington [as Receivers of Excise] on the [last Eighteen Months' or] land tax), which order they have assigned to Mr. Segar, shall be by said Segar assigned to Mr. Kingdon for the service of the Forces.
Mr. Kirwood owns himself satisfied [acknowledges the receipt of] the sum of 3,000l. which he advanced to Mr. Kingdon and of 2,000l. [which he advanced] to Mr. Stephens upon two letters signed by Mr. Bertie, the last dated Nov. 25 last.

Mar. 24. Treasurer Danby directs that an order No. 94 for 20,000l. assigned by Sir Jno. James and Major Huntington on the [Eighteen Months' Assessment or] land tax (which order was assigned [by them] to Mr. Segar, and by said Segar to Mr. Kingdon) be delivered [to said Kingdon]. This sum with the 10,000l. directed March 21 last as above completes the whole order.
"Received the last mentioned order for 20,000l. No. 94 on the Land tax by me, Lem Kingdon."
