Royal warrant dated Kensington to the Attorney General to enter a noli prosequi on the Information against John Bamber, merchant, for bringing on shore, with paying Duty, two bulces of diamonds consigned to him from India, he not knowing there was any Duty on diamonds inwards in regard they are exported without certificate. He is first to pay the Duties and satisfy the officer who made the seizure. King's Warrant Book XXIX, p. 184.

William Lowndes to the Auditors of Imprests to prepare a warrant to be signed by the King for authorising the allowance to the Earl of Carnarvon of the several articles as follows certified by the Commissioners for Army Debts as paid by the said Earl; amounting in the whole to 4,262l. 16s. 99/28d., being items ut supra, pp. 429–30, “my Lords being well satisfied of the reasonableness thereof.”
Appending: report dated July 4 to the Treasury Lords from the Auditors of Imprests (Thomas Foley and Jer. Oakeley as Deputy of Edward Harley) on the several articles of extraordinaries, ut supra, ibid., in the report from the Commissioners for Army Debts relating to several payments by the Earl of Carnarvon as by treaties with the respective Princes and States as therein. We find that the said Treaties and Conventions provide that the said Forces should have the same extraordinaries as the States General allow to their own Troops; and that the accounts and certificates have been produced under the hand of Monsieur Slingelandt, Secretary to the Council of State of the United Provinces, whereby it appears that the States General have allowed the same sums as are mentioned in the said extract for their proportion of the money payable to the said Troops for the same extraordinaries. We find also that the like allowances have been made for the Extraordinaries to the said Troops for other years as well as for the Contingent payments to the British Forces as in the said extract. July 8. Same to the Attorney General enclosing a memorial [missing] of the Corporation of Berwick with the drafts of certain conveyances proposed to be made to the Crown of the ground whereon several houses stand that were thought fit to be demolished during the late Rebellion to enlarge the fortifications there. Please return same to my Lords with any amendments you propose therein. Ibid., p. 315.
July 8. Same to the Navy Commissioners enclosing Mr. Colby's letter [missing] containing an account of the quantity of provisions and Transport stores found to be remaining upon discharge of the ships which lately brought over the three Regiments of Foot from Ireland. My Lords direct you to pursue the same method with respect to the retaining or disposing of the said stores as is done with respect to stores belonging to the Navy: taking care that the value of those disposed be paid to the Treasurer of the Navy and that he be surcharged therewith in his account. My Lords understand that Mr. Colby is ordered by the Admiralty Lords to assist such of the Navy Commissioners as have the office of Sick and Wounded seamen particularly assigned to them. My Lords desire that those gentlemen may in like manner be ordered to assist Mr. Colby in the office of the Transports so as the business of the Sick and Wounded Seamen and the Transports may be under one and the same management at the Navy Board, “with which you will please to acquaint the Lords of the Admiralty.” Ibid., p. 317.

Please send my Lords a certificate of what Debentures [for Army debts] to this time have been made forth by you and take care that a like certificate be sent [weekly] of the Debentures that shall weekly be made forth for the future with the numbers, dates, sums and to whom delivered. July 9. Treasury reference to Nicholas Lechmere of the petition of Richard Topham praying some consideration for tythes arising in and upon Mote Park, now in the possession of the Crown, lying and being in the parish of New Windsor, Co. Berks. Reference Book IX, p. 399.
Same to Hugh Cholmley, Surveyor General of Crown Lands, of the petition of Visct. Molesworth for a grant of a piece of waste ground lying in or near the Privy Garden, 70 foot in front by 100 foot in depth, not yet disposed of or put to any use. Ibid.
Treasury warrant to the King's Remembrancer to issue supersedeases to the Sheriffs of London and Middlesex respectively upon bond being given by John Maccullock of Chiswick and Col. Robert Gardiner for 1,200l. as recognizance for Benjamin Mawson, a debtor in 1,200l. of George Gordon, against whom the Attorney General has obtained judgment for 1,200l. and upward [to the Crown]: and thereupon to release Mawson from Newgate, where he remains prisoner utterly unable to satisfy said debt.

Same to the Barons of the Exchequer in Scotland to prepare a signature in favour of the Lady Southesk (Margaret, wife of James, late Earl of Southesque), granting to her so much as she would have been entitled to out of her husband's forfeited estate in case he had been naturally dead and to grant to trustees for her son, James Carnagie, during his nonage the yearly sum of 250l. out of the residue of said estate to be applied towards his education and entertainment: but with power to the King, his successors &c. to revoke and vacate the said grants when they shall think fit.

The report sets out the value of said Earl's estate 3,220l. 3s. 10d. per an., the debts 1,100l., the jointure 639l. 17s. 102/3d. &c., leaving a free remainder of 1,480l. 5s. 112/3d. per an. The Treasury Lords to the Barons of the Exchequer in Scotland to draft a signature to grant to Marion, wife of James Sterling, late of Keir, the provision and benefits as in your report on her petition, being what she would have been entitled to if he were naturally dead, and 100l. per an. out of the remaining estate for the benefit of her children as from Martinmas 1715 during the life of Dame Lillias Colquhoun, their grandmother, and thereafter 200l. per an.

July 10. Royal warrant dated Kensington to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal dormant for an allowance or salary of 300l. per an. to Richard West, one of our Counsel learned in the law, the King having directed the Commissioners for Trade and Plantations to consult him upon all matters of law which they do not conceive of that importance as to require the opinion of our Attorney or Solicitor General: to oommence from April 21 last, when he was appointed to attend the said service. Letter of direction for 639l. 4s. 2d. to Harry Mordaunt, Treasurer of the Ordnance: on the unsatisfied order in his name for the service of the Ordnance: to be issued out of the like sum lately paid into the Exchequer by John Middleton as surety for Charles Eversfield, late Treasurer of the Ordnance, towards the debt owing by said Eversfield on his account as such. July 10. William Lowndes to the Customs Commissioners to report on the enclosed memorial [missing] of Monsieur Le Coq, the King of Poland's Minister, about two pieces of Chintz, a piece of Atlas and some wine which is come from Holland for his use. Out Letters (General) XXII, p. 316.
Same to same enclosing a letter [missing] from Secretary Craggs with the extract of a letter from Mr. Dayrolle, his Majesty's Resident at the Hague, concerning the great quantities of silver which are carried from hence to Holland. My Lords direct you to give strict orders to the Customs officers [to prevent] as much as possible the evil herein complained of. Appending: [said extract]. “It has been observed of late that a vast quantity of silver comes out of England. At very considerable payments at Rotterdam and other towns the third part at least is made with English Crowns and half Crowns at 56 stivers a Crown and a great quantity of that money is melted here by the goldsmiths.” Ibid., p. 317.
Same to the Auditor of the Receipt for an account how much of the Register of the General Mortgage anno 1710 is unsubscribed to the South Sea Company and remains in the hands of private persons unsatisfied. Ibid.

Same to Francis Negus of the petition of the underkeepers of Windsor Forest and Epping Forest praying to be allowed their usual fee of 40s. a stag, 20s. a hind, and 10s. a buck, “fees being great part of their maintenance.” Ibid.
Treasury warrant to the King's Remembrancer to take the securities of George Moult of London, Esq., loco Ambrose Page, as a surety of Sir Harcourt Master, kt., as Receiver General of Land Tax anno 1718 for the cities of London and Westminster and county of Middlesex and Inns of Court and Chancery.

Same to the Surveyor General of Crown Lands for a particular of the scite of the monastery of St. Mary's, viz. the palace or mansion house lying without the walls of the city of York, in order to a lease thereof to Tancred Robinson for 26 years from 1722–3 March 16 at the old rent of 10s. per an. and fine of 80l.

Same to the Auditor of the Receipt, the Clerk of the Pells, the Chamberlains of the Receipt and the Auditor concerned, to take back from Thomas Jett (formerly Paymaster of the 10l. Lottery anno 1712) tallies of sol as follows: viz. [for] the sum of 42,665l. 13s. 6d. which was issued to him at the Receipt out of Contributions made by himself for the purchase of 4 per cent. annuities, as imprest and upon account for supplying the deficiency of the Fond for 168,003l. per an. for the service of said Lottery: he having, by means of the said Contributions, became possessed of sundry tallies of sol which were to entitle him or his assigns to annuities according to the principal sum for which each tally was struck: all by reason, that the said Deficiency of the Fond which the said tallies were meant to supply hath been otherwise paid and satisfied.
Hereon the said Chamberlains are to deliver up the foils or counterfoils of the said tallies and the said tallies and their foils or counterfoils are to be cancelled and the Auditor of the Receipt and Clerk of the Pells are to make memorandums of the said cancelling' against the entries in their Books of the said issue and in the Certificate which comprehended the same. And thereupon the said Jett is to be given a Certificate under all their hands of his having delivered up the said sum in tallies and that the same are cancelled accordingly. And the Auditor before whom the said Jett doth account is to allow and discharge him thereof in his account on his production of the said Certificate. Warrants not Relating to Money XXV, p. 109.
