Sept. 2. Money warrant for 4,045l. 19s. 10d. to John Williams, Agent to her Majesty's Printers, for Acts of Parliament, Proclamations, Forms of Prayer, speeches &c. by them delivered for the service of the two Houses from Mich. 1711 to Midsummer 1713. Hereof 2,375l. 12s. 0d. is to be satisfied out of the 500,000l. [Lottery] for Civil List arrears and the remaining 1,670l. 7s. 10d. out of loans to be made by said Williams on credit of her Majesty's tin. Civil List Arrears T56/34, p. 124.
Treasury reference to [Mr. Manley] the Surveyor General of Crown Lands of the petition of Matthew Pindar, Esq., for a new lease of a parcel of woodland in Bromby called Princes Wood and a warren in Bromby and Redbourn with a lodge house and the fishery of the river Trent within the soke of Kirton in Lindsey, Co. Lincoln, parcel of the Duchy of Cornwall: to which premises he is entitled by mesne assignments. Treasury reference to the Salt Commissioners of the petition of John Troughton, Collector of Salt Duty at Liverpool, shewing that Thomas Nixon, who returned several sums of the Queen's money for petitioner when collector at Middlewich, did in June and July 1708 give petitioner two bills for 20l. and 100l. on one John Capper in London payable to the Excise Commissioners, but Capper broke before the bills were paid: but by extent on Capper and Nixon petitioner has recovered 103l. 5s. 3d.: therefore praying to be allowed the balance of 16l. 14s. 9d. and his expenses amounting to 39l. 0s. 3d. in said proceedings. Royal warrant dated Windsor Castle to the Attorney General or Solicitor General for a great seal for a grant to John, Lord Delawar, of the office of Treasurer of the Chamber, void by the death of John, Visct. Royal warrant dated Windsor Castle to Edward Harley and Thomas Foley, Auditors of Imprests, to give allowance of the sum of 230l. 2s. 7d. to John How in his account as Paymaster of Guards and Garrisons, being so much paid to the Bank of England for the interest of several sums borrowed of them. Queen's Warrant Book XXV, pp. 416, 447p.
Same to Treasurer Oxford to give warrant to the Surveyor General of Woods, Trent South, to pay 500l. (out of wood sales in any the forests, parks or chases under his survey) to Henry, Duke of Beaufort, Warden of New Forest, without account, for the repair of the stables belonging to the Queen's house of Lyndhurst in said forest, which are very ruinous and out of repair; the Queen being well assured that the repair thereof will require that if not a greater sum. [The Lord Treasurer's warrant of Oct. 16, infra, p. 389, is on different lines from this royal warrant. It merely authorises the delivery of 40 tons of timber to the Duke for the stable repairs.] Ibid., p. 436.
Warrant by same to Sir Roger Mostyn, Paymaster of Marines, to pay to the Commissioners for Disbanding the Marine Regiments 3l. a day each for every day each of them shall be abroad on the said service (that is to say 40s. for himself and the charges attending his own person and 20s. a day for incidents) and 30s. a day to Francis Lyn, who attends them as Secretary. Same by same to Nehemiah Arnold, Humphrey Brent, Thomas Cornwallis and Christopher Tilson, Commissioners for the Lotteries Nos. 1, 2 and 3 anno 1712 [as by the Act 10 Anne, c. 18], and to Thomas Jett, Paymaster of said Lotteries, to make out orders to transfer or pay 130l. to said Jett for 11 tickets [as per numbers detailed, being three tickets of 10l. in Lottery No. 1; one ticket of 20l. and three of 10l. each in Lottery No. 2; one ticket of 20l. and three of 10l. each in Lottery No. 3] still standing out unpaid on the said three first Courses of payment (as part of the 4,500 tickets) and entitled to 130l. principal money, and is to enable him to satisfy same from time to time as they shall be brought in and presented for payment: so that there need be no delay in passing an account of the residue of the money for the service of said Lotteries. Sept. 12. J. Taylour (in the absence of the Treasury Secretaries) to the Secretary at War to report on the enclosed memorial [missing] of Major General Whetham for his pay as Commander in Chief in North Britain 1712 June 25 to Dec. 21, “and from that time to be inserted on the Establishment for the present year.” Will this demand be an exceeding on the Establishment for Guards and Garrisons?
Likewise to report on the enclosed memorial [missing] from Mr. Brydges about the business of half pay and for settling the commencements thereof. My Lord thinks it of great concern to have that affair speedily concluded in order to avoid the inconvenience of frequent applications. I return the report of the Comptrollers of Army Accounts on Sir William Wyndham's memorial about paying to the Officers of the four Regiments broke in Spain whole pay beyond the time of their being disbanded. Please consider the supplies which Parliament has granted for half pay and then what is proper to be done with respect to the commencements of all the half pays in general that have not been already settled. My Lord Treasurer will lay before the Queen your report thereon for her determination therein.
Please also report on the enclosed memorial [missing] of Lord Mark Kerr in behalf of himself and Officers for their subsistence from Feb. 22 last, the time of their reducement. Out Letters (General) XXI, pp. 24–5.

John Blunt, who was empowered to take in subscriptions upon the Two Million Lottery granted anno 1711 [9 Anne, c. 16] for any sum not exceeding 993,000l., has exhibited to my Lord Treasurer an account of his receipts and payments relating thereto and prays allowance of 4,030l. for his pains &c. therein and in the 1,500,000l. Lottery [9 Anne, c. 6] for the same year and in the two Lotteries of the succeeding year and for his charges about the South Sea Act. Please report on said account and on his said cravings. Same dated Windsor Castle to the said Nicholas, Paymaster of the Queen's Private Pensions and Bounties, to cease payment of 2,000l. per an. out of the 3,000l. per an. pension payable to James, Earl of Findlater and Seafield (granted to him by royal warrant of 7 August 1711), to wit during his continuance in the office of Chancellor and Keeper of the Great Seal in Scotland: but from the date of any removal [of him] from said office, then to resume payment of the full 3,000l. per an. to him. Sept. 15. Treasurer Oxford to Sir James Bateman, Sub Governor of the South Sea Company. When I was in London several gentlemen of the Africa Company were with me and brought me the enclosed Resolution [missing] of their Court of Assistants. I have laid same before her Majesty and now transmit it to you that you may communicate it to the South Sea Company, “and I hope the gentlemen of that Company will go on with vigour and diligence, that no more time may be lost in making effectual her Majesty's gracious intentions to them and that so advantageous a trade may be carried on to its full extent.” Out Letters (General) XXI, p. 25.
