Taylour (in the absence of the Treasury Secretaries) to the Secretary at War to report on the enclosed memorial [missing] of Major General Whetham for his pay as Commander in Chief in North Britain 1712 June 25 to Dec. 21, “and from that time to be inserted on the Establishment for the present year.” Will this demand be an exceeding on the Establishment for Guards and Garrisons? |

Likewise to report on the enclosed memorial [missing] from Mr. Brydges about the business of half pay and for settling the commencements thereof. My Lord thinks it of great concern to have that affair speedily concluded in order to avoid the inconvenience of frequent applications. I return the report of the Comptrollers of Army Accounts on Sir William Wyndham's memorial about paying to the Officers of the four Regiments broke in Spain whole pay beyond the time of their being disbanded. Please consider the supplies which Parliament has granted for half pay and then what is proper to be done with respect to the commencements of all the half pays in general that have not been already settled. My Lord Treasurer will lay before the Queen your report thereon for her determination therein. |

South Sea Company. When I was in London several gentlemen of the Africa Company were with me and brought me the enclosed
Resolution [missing] of their Court of Assistants. I have laid same before her Majesty and now transmit it to you that you may communicate it to the South Sea Company, “and I hope the gentlemen of that Company will go on with vigour and diligence, that no more time may be lost in making effectual her Majesty's gracious intentions to them and that so advantageous a trade may be carried on to its full extent.” Out Letters (General) XXI, p. 25. |
