Equitable Claims Under the Head of the Exchequer Account.

T38/193, p. 28. Ursula, Countess Dowager of Plymouth, administratrix to Mary, late Duchess Dowager of Buckingham, on her Grace's annuity or pension of 1200l. per an. from Midsummer 1692 to 8 March 1701–2 11640 0 0
This was not returned in the Exchequer account but it is certified by Lord Halifax [Auditor of the Receipt] that there hath been paid at several times during his Majesty's reign 6740l. and expressed in the warrants to be by way of [Royal] Bounty: but if that sum be to be deducted as part of the pension there will remain due in his Majesty's [Wm. III's] time only 4900 0 0

Thomas, Earl of Sussex, claims an arrear upon his annuity or pension of 1000l. per an. granted him for life as a Gentleman of the Bedchamber by patent dated 22 Oct. 1680, on which nothing having been paid in the time of his late Majesty Wm. III but only 1200l. by way of free gift and royal bounty in consideration of the great debt due to him from the Crown: in case the said 1200l. be to be deducted as part of the said pension there will remain in arrear 11863 0 3¼
This arrear is certified by the Lord Halifax in a distinct certificate dated 27 Nov. 1708 but is not inserted in his Exchequer account; and how far in point of law an annuity granted on an office or place for life will subsist when the exercise of the office ceases is humbly submitted.
Thomas Poulteney Esq., claims an arrear on his annuity or pension for life of 120l. per an. as one of the Pages of Honour to Charles II by patent dated 9 Dec. 1678, commencing at Michaelmas 1678 and paid only to 29 Sept. 1683 except 103l. 6s. 8d. paid him in the time of James II and William III in full of his arrear due immediately after the said 29 Sept. 1683 to Xmas 1684: so there is due on his arrear on the said pension for all the time of his late Majesty King William being 13 years and 23 days 1567 11 2¾

George Granville Esq., claims as heir and administrator to Bernard Granville Esq., on his annuity or pension for life of 500l. per an. as one of the Grooms of the Bedchamber to Charles II, by patent dated 20 July 1672 and paid only to Xmas 1684 at the Exchequer: so there is due and in arrear on the said pension for all the time of his late Majesty King William being 13 years and 23 days 6531 10 1½
