p. 295. The fragment headed “Notes for Prince Philip's guidance in England” which Weiss, in his Documents Inédits, Vol. IV, places in June, must be earlier. In it, Philip is advised by Renard. in whose hand it is written, to put his trust in Paget. Now, Paget had broken with Gardiner, lost Mary's confidence and had been dropped by Renard (pp. 230–231) by the end of April. This paper, indeed, may well have been written before 12 February, when Renard first reported that Paget was siding with Arundel against Gardiner.
