Leave of Absence.

RESOLVED, upon the Question, That Mr. Serjeant Euers shall have Leave to go down into the Country for a time, upon some great and urgent Occasions.

Dr. Eden.

Ordered, That the Sub-committee made by the Grand Committee for Religion, to consider of such Matters as concern Doctor Eden, be made a Committee from the House, with Power to receive all Petitions as concern the said Doctor Eden; and to report the State of the Business to the House.

Martial Law.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to examine the Matter concerning Martial Law, shall have Power to send for Commissions, Warrants, Papers, or any thing else, that may any way concern or conduce to that Business; and are to meet * *.

Newcastle Return to be amended.

Ordered, That the Sheriff of Newcastle shall amend the Indenture of Return of One of the Burgesses for Newcastle by To-morrow Morning, according to a former Order of this House; or else shall stand committed.

Burwell Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of the Inhabitants and Commoners, in Burwell in the County of Cambridge, be referred to a Committee for the Queen's Bill.

Committees.

Ordered, That all the Committees, that should have met Yesterday in the Afternoon, do meet this Afternoon, in their usual Times and Places.

Copley's Estate.

2da vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Settling of certain Lands and Tenements upon the Heirs Males of Wm. Copley Esquire; and to enable him to make Leases, for One-and-twenty Years, of divers Lands, &c. upon Question, committed unto Mr. Evelyn, Sir Arth. Ingram, Mr. Ofield, Sir Edw. Deering, Mr. Whitehead, Sir Ambrose Browne, Sir Gilbert Gerard, Mr. Reignolds, Sir Wm. Lewis, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Bellassis, Sir Martin Lumley, Sir Humfrey Tufton, Sir Jo. Holland, Mr. Goodwyn, Mr. Millington, Mr. Pelham, Sir Tho. Barrington, Mr. Glyn, Sir Jo. Culpeper, Sir Wm. Allinson, Mr. Nicholas, Sir Jo. Curson, Mr. Perd, the Knights and Burgesses of Surry: They are to meet on Monday in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards.

Irish Army, &c.

Sir W. Erle begins the Report of the free Conference had with the Lords concerning the Disbanding of the new-levied Irish Army, the Disarming of the Papists, and the Removing of the English Papists from Court; the which Report was continued by Mr. Reignolds, Mr. Hampden, and Mr. Waller.

Conference.

Ordered, That on Tuesday next the House shall debate and take into Consideration, what shall be returned to the Lords at another Conference, concerning the Report of the free Conference now made.

Impeachment of E. of Straford.

Ordered, That the same Committee, that was formerly appointed to draw up the Charge against the Earl of Straford, with the Addition of Mr. Selden, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Whittlock, and Mr. Maynard, do consider of the Articles, and farther Impeachment of the Earl of Straford, by the Commons; and likewise the said Earl's Answer to those Articles, and farther Impeachment: And they are likewise to consider of the Proofs, and how the Witnesses may conveniently be brought together to give their Testimony, viva voce, in the Business: And they are to proceed in the secretest and speediest Way they can for the Advantage of the Business, in preparing it for a Trial, and for farther Proceedings: And they have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records, or any thing else that they, in their Judgments, shall conceive fit, or may conduce to the Service; and they are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Treasury-chamber.

The Four Lawyers, that are added to the Earl of Straford's Committee, made their Protestation in the House, openly, of Secrecy.

Sir Geo. Wentworth, upon his Protestation made to the House, of keeping secret all such Matters as past this Day, has Leave to resort to his Brother the Earl of Straford; but all the other Members of this House are restrained from resorting unto him, without Leave first obtained from this House.

Articles against Archbp. of Canterbury.

The Articles against the Lord Archbishop of Cant' which were formerly ordered to be ingrossed, were now read; and

It was Resolved, upon the Question, That the Articles, thus ingrossed and read, should be sent up to the Lords, in Maintenance of the Charge against the Archbishop of Cant', whereby he stands accused of High Treason.

Ditto.

Sir H. Vane is appointed to go up to the Lords, to desire a Conference with their Lordships, by a Committee of both Houses, so soon as may stand with their Lordships Occasions, concerning Articles to be presented against Wm. Laud, Lord Archbishop of Cant' in Maintenance of the Commons Charge, whereby he stands accused of High Treason.

Petition from Black Friars, &c.

The Petition of the Inhabitants of the Black Friars, St. Martin's Ludgate, and St. Bride's London, was read; and is ordered to be referred to the Committee for Secretary Windebank's Business.

Conference agreed to.

Sir H. Vane brings Answer from the Lords, that their Lordships will give a Meeting presently, by a Committee of the whole House, as is desired.

Articles sent up.

Mr. Pimme, Mr. Hampden, and Mr. Maynard, went up with the Articles, according to a former Order.

Mr. Pimme returns and acquaints the House, that, according to his Abilities, he had performed their Commands; and

Pimme thanked.

It was Ordered, That Thanks should be returned him for the good Service he had therein done this House.
