Prefatory Note

The Text of this Volume was completed by the late Dr. Shaw and would have appeared complete with Introductory matter some years earlier but for the War. An Introduction was also written but the Statement of Revenue and Expenditure for 1708 was left incomplete and no Declared Accounts for 1707 or 1708 had been forwarded to the Printers at the time of Dr. Shaw's death. The Index to this Volume has been compiled by Mr. W. L. White, M.B.E., of the Public Record Office.

A longer Note on the work of the late Dr. Shaw for the Public Record Office, and on the publication of thirteen volumes (of which the present is one) in the state in which he left them, is prefixed to Volume XX of this series.
