Same by same of a same dated Jan 28 to same for the provision of 2 liveries extraordinary of velvet trimmed with gold lace for 2 trumpeters that are appointed to attend the Duke of Marlborough into Holland: to an estimate of 166l. Ibid.
Warrant by same to the Queen's Remembrancer to deliver up Sir Isaac Newton's surety bonds as Master Worker of the Mint to Wm. III, he having duly passed all his accounts & the moneys of the Pix coined under his mint indenture [made] with the said king having been tried.

Barker, Deputy Queen's Remembrancer dated 1707 Oct 24 that the said accounts are passed to 1706 Dec 31 & that by verdict of the Trial of the Pix of July 31 last the gold & silver moneys coined to that time are found to be according to the covenants of the said indenture. Feb. 17. Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to the Auditor of the Receipt [sic for the Customs Commissioners] to pay 100l. to Josiah Chitty, one of the wine tasters in London port, as a reward for good services to the revenue. Money Book XIX, p. 179.
Same dormant to the Customs Cashier to pay to Thomas Walker the fee or salary of 12l. per an as one of the five undersearchers of London port, to which he was appointed by patent dated the 10th inst. Ibid.
Letter of direction for 12284l. 19. 8½ to James Brydges, Paymaster of the Forces Abroad: out of Contributions for Annuities anno 1708: & is for defraying the charge of fortifications & other services relating to the garrison of Gibraltar. Disposition Book XIX, p. 104.

Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to the Collector Outwards London port to swear Thomas Walker into office as one of the five undersearchers of London port. Warrants not Relating to Money XX, p. 112.
Same by same to the Excise Commissioners to permit John Jaquein, Arthur Martin, James Smith, Jacob Duce, Mary Barnard, William Parrot & Benjamin Way merchants to reduce their imported brandy to single brandy or to make a post entry of so much brandy as would reduce the same to proof and to pay the single Duty for the same.

Treasurer Godolphin to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland to report on the enclosed petition [missing] of Sir Richard Cox bart praying a pension on the Irish Establishment towards the support of himself & his numerous family in regard of his service as Chief Justice & Lord Chancellor of Ireland, which have deprived him of [time for] his profession & practice of the law. Letter of direction for 22979l. 19. 3 to Sir Thomas Littleton, Treasurer of the Navy: out of Contributions for Annuities anno 1708: & is intended to be paid to Walter Whitfeild, Paymaster of the Marines, upon account to pay the subsistence, offreckonings & clearings of such Companies of the said Marines whose muster rolls are returned into said Whitfeild's office, all respits being deducted. William Lowndes to the said Navy Treasurer to dispose of 50000l. out of the tallies & orders in your hands on the Land Tax anno 1708 to any persons willing to advance thereon at 5 per cent interest [discount]: & to apply same to wages of seamen. Same to same to report on the enclosed petition [missing] of several gentlemen, merchants & others of Co Pembroke complaining against David Morris, Collector of Milford. Ibid.
Treasury reference to the Excise Commissioners of the petition of the distillers of cider & perry in and about the city of Bristol, shewing that they are prosecuted as first buyers of several quantities of cider & perry, for the Duty of 4s. per hogshead, although they were not retailers thereof but distilled the same into low wines & spirits that paid full Duties; and they conceive that [by] the Acts of Parliament laying the said Duties on cider [the Act of 8–9 Wm. III, c. 22 for Duties on malt, mum, cider, &c continued by subsequent Acts of 13–14 Wm. III, c. 5; 1 Anne, St. 2, c. 3; 2–3 Anne, c. 2; 3–4 Anne, c. 17; 4–5 Anne, c. 17; 6 Anne, c. 5 the Duty] was intended to be charged on the retailer only, whereas it has been demanded from petitioners after they had made great distillations & had sold their spirits at low rates. Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to the Clerk of the Pipe for a lease to Charles, Earl of Peterborough & Monmouth of the park or demesne lands of Curry Mallet, part of the manor of Curry Mallet Co Somerset, together with a lodge or mansion house called the Gatehouse, all parcel of the Duchy of Cornwall: for 99 years terminable on the lives of John Uttermare senr, John Uttermare junr & Robert Uttermare.
Prefixing: particular of the premises & memorandum made out by J. Tailer, deputy auditor: & rated by the Surveyor General of Crown Lands.

Feb. 19. Letter of direction for 5000l. to Visct Rialton, the Cofferer of the Household: out of Civil List moneys: & is to be in part of wages, board wages and other expenses of his Office for 1707 Michaelmas quarter. Disposition Book XIX, p. 107.
Money warrant for 7l. 13. 4 to the church wardens of St John Baptist Walbrook for one year to 1707 Xmas on the perpetuity for the poor there. Money Book XIX, p. 212.
William Lowndes to the Navy Commissioners to observe the Lord Admiral's desire that the Collectors in each port shall receive & subsist all such men as shall be impressed for the fleet until the tenders thereto appointed shall come to take them aboard and to pay to the officers who bring such men 20s. per man & 12d. a mile for so many miles (above 20) as they shall travel, upon their producing certificates of their having been so marched. In order thereto you are to imprest to Mr. Ferne, the Customs Cashier, so much money as shall be necessary. (The like letter to the Victualling Commissioners.) Out Letters (General) XVIII, p. 394.
Same to same. The Navy Commissioners & Victualling Commissioners are directed to give imprests to Mr. Ferne, the Customs Cashier, as to the payments to be made as above in the outports. The Collectors of the outports are to be careful to take acquittances for their payments & to send same up to Mr. Ferne. Ibid.
Same to Josia Burchett [Secretary to the Lord Admiral] enclosing copies of the above letters. In regard of the strict appropriations of the Customs by several Acts of Parliament the Customs receipts at the outports cannot be applied to the above service. My Lord Treasurer has therefore ordered imprests as above to Mr. Ferne, as this service is of so great consequence. Ibid., p. 395.
Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of Capt. Richard Long setting forth his design of buying a small brigantine or ship now at Bruges in Flanders, 90 tons with ports for 12 guns, for a voyage to the West Indies; & that in the judgment of several persons she is English built; therefore praying that she may be made a free bottom “in the place where she now lies, to prevent any inconveniences they may otherwise meet with.” Reference Book VIII, p. 311.
Same to Mr. Dodd & Mr. Waters of the petition of Edward Eyre Esq shewing that he was employed by the said Dodd & Waters for 5 years past to secure for the Prince [George of Denmark, in his capacity as Lord High Admiral of England] the rights & perquisites of the Admiralty in the port of Galway & the districts thereof; where he seized and took a French ship called the Three Crowns which was condemned as lawful prize, and that he has been at great expense in securing other ships taken there and has been prosecuted at law for seizing the above mentioned ship: therefore praying that he may have his share as captor of the first said ship & be indempnified from prosecution for doing his duty & to have a suitable reward for his service. My Lord Treasurer has read Auditor Harley's report on the petition of George Dodington et al, clothiers, relating to a super of 27817l. set on them in your accounts as late Paymasters of the Forces in Ireland. Please certify whether the gross deduction for clothing in your said account includes the said super. Ibid.
Treasury reference to the Agents for Taxes of the petition of Henry Jago of the borough of Helstone, Co Cornwall, & Mary his wife & others, shewing that Geo Collins, a collector of the Eighteen Months' assessment granted to Charles II (anno 1661, by 13 Car. II, St. 2, c. 3) for the two Hundreds of Penwith & Kerrier was returned into the Exchequer for an arrear in his hands and process for same issued against the petitioners “although it appears the said arrears were discharged”; therefore pray that the accounts may be looked into & they freed from prosecution. Subscription by Treasurer Godolphin for the execution of a Lord Chamberlain's warrant dated Feb 18 to John Charlton, Master of the Jewel Office, for the delivery to Henry Boyle, a Principal Secretary of State, of the usual allowance of 1000 ounces of white plate: to an estimate of 400l. Warrants not Relating to Money XX, p. 119.
The like of a same dated 1707 Nov 28 to same to provide 5 escutcheons for messengers of the Chamber: to an estimate of 36l.: to wit for William Knight, Richard Hayward & Antho Dagley (who have lost same by robbery or by falls from their horses in the night when on service) & John Thornborough (lost by the burning of his house) & — Newlin who has had no escutcheon since the Queen's accession. The like of a same dated Jan 13 last to deliver to the Honble Peter Wentworth 80 ounces of gilt plate: as a gift from the Queen at the christening of his child: to an estimate of 40l. Ibid., p. 120.
The like of a same dated 1707 Dec 12 to same to alter the badges of her Majesty's 48 watermen “as [those of] the Yeomen of the Guards” [have been], at an estimate of 800l. Ibid.
