PRAYERS.

Tewxbury Return amended.

THE Clerk of the Crown was called in, concerning the Election of the Town of Tewxbury: -The Bailiffa, under their Seal, returned Sir Rob. Cooke and Sir Edward Alford: The Inhabitants of Tewxbury returned Sir Rob. Coke and Mr. Stephens: - The House avoided the Election of Sir Edw. Alford; and commanded the Clerk of the Crown to appear at the Bar, and there to take off the Writ from the Indenture returned by the Bailiffs; and to fix it to the Indenture returned by the Inhabitants.

Haberdashers Hall Revenue.

An Ordinance concerning the Accounts of Monies disbursed by the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, being formerly upon the second Reading, committed, was this Day read, with the Amendments; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Farthing Token Office.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Farthing Token Office do meet on Monday next, at Two, in the Duchy Court: And that Mr. Hoyle, Mr. Scawen, and Mr. Knightly, be added to this Committee.

Detention of Money.

The humble Petition of Thomas Wilson, Scotts Skipper, who brought Coals hither, considering the great Necessity of this Town, and made Return in Six hundred Fiftyfive Cross Dollars, and Thirty-three Shillings, Sterling; which was stayed, and taken from him by the Searchers at Graves-end: Upon the Recommendation of the Petitioner's Case and the Petition, from the Scotts Commissioners; and in regard that the Petitioner was Ignorant of the Laws in that Behalf made; and was the rather induced unto it, in respect that he had always the Liberty to make Return of his Coals in Ready-money out of Holland:

It is Ordered, That the said Thomas Wilson shall have the said Six hundred Fifty-five Cross Dollars, and Thirthree Shillings, Sterling, restored unto him: And the Searchers are hereby required to restore the said Monies accordingly.

St. Thomas Hospital.

The humble Petition of the President and Governors of St. Thomas Hospital in Southwarke, upon the Occasion of an Order made Januarii 15, concerning the recommending of Mr. Cleere, to be appointed Surgeon in St. Thomas Hospital in Southwarke, in the Stead of Mr. Molins, Surgeon there, and taken Prisoner in Arms against the Parliament; desiring, that they might be left to their free Election; was this Day read:

Resolved, &c. That the President and Governors of St. Thomas Hospital in Southwarke, be left to their free Election and Choice of Surgeons into the said Hospital.

Resolved, &c. That the Consideration of St. Thomas Hospital in Southwarke be referred to the Committee for Hospitals.

Isle of Wight, &c.

Mr. Lisle presented, from the Conference with the Lords, Two Letters, one from Newport, Januarii 16;- from Yermouth, Januarii 19, from the Deputy Governor and some Deputy Lieutenants of the Isle of Wight; desiring that the Ship Charles might continue there for the Defence of those Coasts, and for Preservation of Lymmington and Hurst Castle; and the rather, in regard that the Lord Inchiquin is come into Dorchester, with Eight hundred Soldiers; and Five hundred Soldiers more, out of Ireland, are come into those Parts.

Resolved, &c. That the Ship Charles shall continue upon the Coast of the Isle of Wight, for the Defence of Hurst Castle and Limington, for the time that she is now victualled.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to my Lord Admiral to take care, that the Coasts of the Isle of Wight, and all the other Western Coasts, may be guarded; and that Ships may lie there for their Defence.

Ordered, That the Consideration of guarding and manning Hurst Castle and Limmington, and providing for the Defence of those Places, be referred to the Committee for the Safety.
