PRAYERS.

Letters, &c. referred.

A LETTER from Colonel Morley of the One-and-thirtieth of May; with divers Letters from Sir Jo. Leedes, Captain Warburton, and others, and other Papers inclosed; were all this Day read; and referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom.

White's, &c. Claims.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Rich. White, William Osborne, and Nich. Bagbeere, Merchants, concerning Goods taken of them by the Lord Inchequin, and Tickets given them for the Payment for them, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland.

Sequestrations.

Resolved, That this House doth nominate and appoint Mr. Samuel Avery, Mr. Tho. Barnardiston, Mr. Wm. Hobson, Deputy, Mr. Rich. Hill, in Lime-street, to be Treasurers and Receivers of all such Monies, as shall come in upon the Ordinance for Sequestrations.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Ditto.

An additional and explanatory Ordinance to the Ordinance for Sequestrations, was this Day read; and re-committed unto the same Committee; with the Addition of Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Whittlock, Mr. Lisle, Sir Tho. Barrington, Mr. Strode, Mr. Hill, Mr. Philip, Smyth, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Serjeant Wilde: And they are to meet at the Rising of the House, and to bring it in To-morrow Morning.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Holles carried up to the Lords, the Vote for recalling the Ordinance of the Twenty-fourth of May, granted to Colonel Long, for raising and collecting of Monies in Essex; the Vote for the Treasurers for receiving the Monies upon the Sequestrations.

He was likewise to desire the Lords to expedite an Answer to the Ordinance, concerning the Assembly of Divines concerning the Prisoners at Oxon; concerning the additional Names to the Ordinance, for the Twentieth Part; the Vote concerning the Great Seal; the Ordinance concerning the reducing of Newcastle.

Mr. Darley carried up to Mr. Holles, to deliver unto the Lords, the Ordinance for Supply of the Forces under the Command of the Lord Fairfax.

The Regalia.

Resolved, That the Dean, Subdean, and Prebends, be enjoined and required to deliver unto Sir Hen. Mildmay, and Mr. Marten, the Keys of the Treasury where the Regalia are kept; that they may search that Place, and report to the House what they find there.

The Question being put, whether, upon the Refusal to deliver the Keys, the Door of that Place where the Regalia are kept shall be opened;

Answer from Lords.

Mr. Holles brings Answer, that the Lords do agree to the Vote for revoking the Ordinance granted to Colonel Long;-to the Treasurers appointed for receiving the Monies, upon the Ordinance for Sequestrations: And, as to the other Ordinances, mentioned in that Message, as, likewise, to the Ordinance for Relief of the Lord Fairefax, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Army Maintenance.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Bennett;

The Lords desire a Conference by Committees of both * presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House, concerning an Ordinance sent up from this House, for the Relief of the Lord Fairefax.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; that this House has considered their Lordships Message; and will give a present Meeting by a Committee.

Mr. Holles, Mr. Reynolds, Sir Wm. Armyn, are appointed Reporters of this Conference.

Mr. Holles reports, that the Lords desire to know whether the Meaning of this House be, that, those that shall advance Monies to supply the Lord Fairfax, shall have Security out of the Profits of the Estates of the Earl of Newcastle, and the other Persons named in the said Ordinance, by way of Sequestrations; or a real Security, out of the Lands and Estates themselves of the said Persons: If the first way, they agree to it; if the latter, they desire to consider of it; that Articles of Impeachment be brought up against them, and they convicted.

Withers' Troop.

Ordered, That the Collectors of the Monies, upon the second Payment of the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds, in the County of Surry, do forthwith pay, unto Sir Rich. Onslowe, Five hundred Pounds of the said Monies, upon Account, to be employed towards the Payment of Captain Withers his Troop; and that the said Five hundred Pounds be repaid out of the next Monies that shall come in, within the said County, upon the Propositions.

Delinquents Estates.

Ordered, That at the next Message the Lords be desired to expedite their Answer to the Ordinance for mortgaging the Houses of Delinquents, &c.

Coining Plate, &c.

Ordered, That, the Treasurers at Guildhall do forthwith cause the Plate of Dr. Caddyman, taken by Quarter Master Griston, at Mrs. Crosse's House in the Strand, to be melted down and coined; and deliver the Proceed thereof unto Sir Arthur Haselrigg, upon Account, for the Use of Sir Wm. Waller, for the Payment of the Forces under his Command; and that the Value of the Jewels there seized be also disposed to Sir Arthur Haselrigg: And it is further Ordered, That the Plate seized, belonging to Mr. Hayes in Essex, be likewise melted down, coined, and the Proceed thereof delivered also unto Sir Arth. Haselrigge, upon Account, to be employed for the Service of the Forces under the Command of Sir Wm. Waller.

Leave to go to Oxforde.

The Question being put, whether Christian Axelson shall have leave to go to Oxforde, about getting his Goods restored, taken at Falmouth;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went out.

So the Question passed with the Negative.

Payment for Army.

Ordered, That Jo. Angell Esquire shall pay unto Sir Arthur Haselrigg, for the Use of Sir William Waller, Seven hundred Thirty-six Pounds, which, he hath confessed, under his Hand, is remaining in his keeping, being the Monies for the Aqueduct; and this House will save the said Mr. Angell indemnified against all Persons whatsoever. And it is further Ordered, and this House doth declare, and engages the publick Faith of the Kingdom for Repayment of the said Monies, when the Work goes forward: And it is further Ordered, That the Lords be moved to join herein: And Sir Arthur Haselrigg and Mr. John Goodwyn is to take care of this Order.

Brewers Company.

Ordered, That the Committee for Excise do call before them the Company of Brewers, to give an Account to the Committee, concerning the Monies remaining in their Hands.

Letter to LordGeneral.

The Letter to my Lord General was read; and assented unto; and Mr. Speaker was ordered to subscribe it.

Publishing false News.

Ordered, That Andrew Coe, and Rob. Austyn shall be summoned forthwith to attend the House, for publishing false News, to the Disservice of the Proceedings of Parliament.

Petition referred.

Ordered, That the Petition here depending against Mr. Jo. Alford, at the Suit of Mr. James Lillies, and David Roche, is referred to the Committee of the Irish Affairs, where Mr. Goodwyn is Chairman.

Yates', &c. Sequestrations.

Ordered, That the Estate of Sir Edw. Yates and Sir W. Portman, according to a Particular this Day given in to the House, be presently sequestred, by the Committee for Sequestrations in the County of Middlesex.
