PREFACE
The present volume continues the Edition of the Close Rolls of the reign of Henry III, of which the first volume (1227–1232) was published in 1902. It contains Rolls 82, 83, 84 and 85, and covers the 49th to 52nd regnal years (a.d. 1264–1268).
Attention was called in the preface to the last volume to the number of mistakes and corrections in the rolls.
The text of this volume has been prepared by several junior Assistant Keepers under my supervision. The index has been compiled by Mr. K. H. Ledward, an Assistant Keeper of the Records.
