December 1307

Dec. 6.
Westminster.
To Walter de Gloucester, escheator this side Trent. Order to deliver to Gilbert de Clare, son and heir of Gilbert de Clare, late earl of Gloucester and Hertford, all the hay that grew on the lands of his inheritance in the said Walter's bailiwick in the summer season (de seisona estatis) last past, and all the king's charges in the fallows (in warectis) of the same in the said season, the king having granted the above to him. By p.s.
The king wills that Richard atte Hawe, late constable of Oxford castle, shall be released from prison, where he has been for three years on an attachment to answer before Roger le Brabanzun and his fellows, justices of the late king of oyer and terminer, as to why he allowed Alice la Dreys to depart from prison, to which she had been committed for felony by the late king's justices for delivering the gaol of the said castle until she was delivered of child; for whose escape the said Richard was indicted before the said Roger and his associates, and was committed to prison on that account and for detaining the said castle against Walter de Gloucestre, who was sent by the late king to take the castle into his hands.
