Feb. 10.
Berwick-on-Tweed.
To Walter de Gloucester, escheator beyond Trent. Order to deliver seisin to Thomas, son and heir of Giles de Berkele, of the lands that the said Giles held by knight service of the heir, now deceased, of Robert Walerand, whose lands were lately in the king's hands owing to the madness of the said heir, and are now restored to the said Robert's heir, as Thomas has proved his age before the said escheator.
Feb. 4.
Berwick-on-Tweed.
To J. bishop of Norwich, J. de Britannia, earl of Richmond, Guy Ferre, and William Inge, knights. Order to pay to the king's clerk, Master Richard de Haveryng', his expenses for the time that he shall stay in Gascony for the purpose of rendering account of the time when he was constable of Bordeaux, and for other matters.
Feb. 7.
Berwick-on-Tweed.
To the sheriff of York. Order to levy all the money and provisions granted or to be granted to the king by the community of that county and others, men of religion and others, at his request in aid of the Scotch war, and to buy corn with the said money and from the issues of his bailiwick, and to send the corn so bought along with the corn and victuals granted as above to Berwick-on-Tweed, and to there deliver them to the keeper of the king's stores, making and delivering to the treasurer and barons of the exchequer indentures or tallies for the money and victuals so borrowed by the king containing the price of the same and the names of those who have given help in this way, either by way of gift or loan, and of the sum of money and victuals so granted or to be granted to the king, and the price of the same.

To Walter de Gloucester, escheator beyond Trent. Order not to intermeddle further with the lands that Hugh Pecche held, and to restore the issues, as it appears by inquisition that he held nothing by reason whereof the custody of his lands should pertain to the king.
To Adam de Plunkenet, keeper of the Hay of Hereford. Order to deliver to Walter Hakelut, sheriff of Hereford, twenty oaks fit for timber from the said Hay, to repair therewith the houses within the castle of Hereford. By the chancellor and treasurer.

To Walter de Gloucester, escheator beyond Trent. Order to assign to Margery, late the wife of John Dyne, a tenant in chief of the king, upon her taking oath not to marry without the king's licence, dower of her husband's lands, in the presence of Henry, son and heir of the said John, if he choose to attend.

Berwick-on-Tweed.
To the collectors of the custom of wool, wax, avoir-du-pois, and other small (subtilium) things of weight, corn and other merchandise of strange and foreign merchants in the port of Southampton. Order to admit the attorney of Thomas de Langar, William de Bosk', and the other merchants to whom the king has granted the money from the said customs until they be satisfied for 3,254l. owing to them for wines, to examine together with the said collectors the said goods and to supervise the receipt of the customs, and to pay to him daily by indenture the money arising from the said customs, as the king understands that the said collectors do not deliver the money to the merchants according to the king's former order, but only at their own pleasure. To Walter de Waldeshef, taker of the king's wines of the right prise at Southampton. Order to deliver to the abbot and convent of St. Edward, Netley (Lettelye), a tun of wine of the right prise for this year, in accordance with the grant of Henry III. of a tun yearly for the celebration of mass in their church, which the late king, at the instance of R. bishop of Bath and Wells, granted should be received at Southampton.

To the same. Like order in favour of the abbot and monks of (de Bello Loco Regis), in accordance with the grant of Henry III. of a tun yearly for celebration of mass.

Berwick-on-Tweed.
To John de Sandale, treasurer. Order to quickly send to Gascony by a yeoman the letters addressed to John, bishop of Norwich, John de Brittania, earl of Richmond, and their fellows that the king sends to him by the bearer of these presents, whereof the king sends him a transcript herewith enclosed in order that he may be informed of the tenor of the same; and he is ordered to examine in the meantime all original letters, agreements, and deeds in the treasury between the aforesaid (sic) kings, and the king will order him to do what he ought to do concerning the above (sic) matter. Feb. 8.
Berwick-on-Tweed.
To Walter de Gloucester, escheator beyond Trent. Order to pay to Guy Ferre a moiety of the issues of the manor of Depyng' for the time since it has been in the escheator's hands upon the death of Joan, late the wife of John Wak, until Michaelmas last, the king having granted the custody thereof to the late Henry de Lacy, earl of Lincoln, during the minority of Thomas, son and heir of the said John, to have from Michaelmas last at a yearly rent of 336l. 18s. 10¾d.; and having granted the said sum to the said Guy to be received from the said earl, and having afterwards granted to the said Guy a moiety of the said money due for the issues from the death of the abovesaid Joan until the said Michaelmas.
Feb. 8.
Berwick-on-Tweed.
To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer. Order to discharge the heirs and executors of the will of William de Leyburn of all debts due from him to the late king until October 11, in the 34th year of his reign, when the late king pardoned him all debts for his good service.
