To the sheriff of Oxford. Order to cause a coroner for that county to be elected in place of Nicholas Brun, of Chirchehull, deceased.

To the bailiff of Margaret, queen of England, of the manor of Havering'atte-Bourn (sic). Order to deliver to Peter de Cusancia six oaks fit for timber from the park of the manor of the king's gift, to construct therewith a chapel at Hornchurch (Monasterium Cornutum).

To him who supplies the place of the treasurer and to the barons of the exchequer. Order to acquit Geoffrey Luterel of 31l. due from him, to wit 25l. for the scutage of Wales in the tenth year of the late king of the time of Robert Luterel his father, and 100s. for several defaults, and 20s. for an amercement of the said Robert, as the king has quit-claimed the same to the said Geoffrey by letters patent for a fee that will be due to him from the king, who has lately retained him.

To him who supplies the place of the treasurer and to the barons of the exchequer. Order to acquit the prior of Priterwell of 128l. 6s. 10d. due from him to the late king for the arrears of the ferm of the manors of Estwode, Stok, Neyland, and Reyleye, and the hundred of Rocheford for the time when Peter, the late prior, held them at ferm of the late king, which sum the late king granted, on March 10, in the 31st year of his reign, to Margaret, queen of England, with provision that the prior should answer to her for the same.

Westminster.
To the collectors of the custom of wool, hides, and wool-fells in the port of Boston. Order to deliver all the monies of the custom now in hand, and that shall be hereafter collected, until further orders, to Anthony Pessaigne, of Genoa, or Robert Usedemer his attorney, for furthering the king's affairs as the said Anthony has been enjoined by the king. To Edmund de Hastinges, keeper of the town of Berwick-on-Tweed and constable of the castle of the same. Order to deliver Isabella, late the wife of John, earl of Boghan, captured with other Scotch rebels in the late king's time, to Henry de Bello Monte or William dè Felyng, his attorney, to be guarded by him as the king has enjoined him. To Robert de Kendale, constable of Dover castle and keeper of the Cinque Ports. Order to provide shipping at Dover on Sunday before the Ascension next for the passage of the king and his suite to parts beyond sea, whither he proposes setting out to attend the solemnities of the reception of arms by the king of Navarre. To the sheriff of Kent. Order to cause such bridges and hurdles (clayas) to be made for the king's passage to parts beyond sea as Robert de Kendale or him who supplies his place or the king's clerk Ranulph de Benton shall direct, and to cause them to be taken to Dover and delivered to the said Robert or Ranulph. To the sheriff of Gloucester. Order to pay, out of the first issues of his bailiwick and from the tallage of the community of the town of Gloucester, 200l. to the king's clerk Hugh de Leoministre, treasurer of the king's son Edward, for the expenses of his household.
To John Abel, escheator this side Trent. Order to cause Thomas de Monemuwe, son and heir of Walter de Monemuwe, tenant in chief, to have seisin of his father's lands, as he has proved his age before the said escheator and the king has taken his fealty, and has respited his homage until Michaelmas.
April 28.

To the same. Order not to molest Richard de Weyland for the issues of a moiety of the manor of Blaxale or of other lands that his father held from the time of his father's death, as it was found by an inquisition taken by Roger de Wellesworth, late escheator this side Trent, that John de Weyland held the above moiety of the king at his death as of the manor of Doningworth, which belonged to Roger le Bygod, late earl of Norfolk, and which the king had then committed to his brothers Thomas and Edmund to hold, together with the knights' fees and advowsons, during pleasure, and that the said John held no other lands in chief in his bailiwick, but that he held lands of divers other lords, and that the aforesaid Richard his son was his next heir and full age; whereupon the king took his homage and restored his father's lands to him, and ordered the said John Abel to cause him to have seisin of the same; Richard having complained that, although the king ordered Roger de Wellesworth, the escheator, not to intermeddle further with the said moiety or the other lands, etc., that he held of the king's brothers by reason of the above assignment, but should permit them to have the issues and profits thereof, the said John Abel charges Richard with the issues of the above and of the lands held of other lords from the time of his father's death.

To the sheriff of Kent. Order to aid the king's servants Ralph Spray and Adam le Chaumberleyn in providing meat and fish in divers places in that county against the king's arrival there, for which purpose the king has sent them into that county. He is to satisfy those persons from whom the victuals shall be bought.
The like to the same for Thomas de Garston and John de Hampton.

William son of John de Bulyngton, in the king's prison at Grymesby for the death of Roger le Long, of Brighowe, has letters to the sheriff of Lincoln to bail him until the first assize.
May 7.
Windsor.
To him who supplies the place of the treasurer and to the barons of the exchequer. Order to acquit Adam de Everyngham, son and heir of Robert de Everyngham, of 83l. 6s. 8d. that they demand from him for a fine that the said Robert made with the late king for the service of two and a half knights' fees for his army of Wales in the tenth year of his reign, as Robert paid 40l. to Master William de Luda, keeper of the late king's wardrobe, into the wardrobe at Rothelan on Friday the eve of the Assumption, in the above year, and 43l. 6s. 8d. on Saturday after St. Luke the Evangelist, in the same year, as appears by the late king's letters patent.
May 2.
Westminster.
To the same. Order to acquit brother Henry, prior of Coventry, of 50 marks that they demand from him, part of a fine of 100 marks that the prior made with the late king for the service of two knights' fees for his army of Wales in the tenth year of his reign, as he paid 50 marks into the late king's wardrobe on Sunday before Michaelmas in the above year to Master William de Luda, the keeper.
To the same. Order to acquit the said prior of 50 marks paid into the late king's wardrobe as above on the morrow of St. Peter ad Vincula, in the above year.
To the same. Order to acquit the said prior of 80 marks, in which the prior made fine with the late king for the service of two knights' fees for his army of Wales in the fifth year of his reign, paid into his wardrobe as above on Monday after the translation of St. Martin, in the same year.

To the sheriff of York. Order to cause a coroner for that county to be elected in place of John Gillot, deceased.

To the sheriff of Northumberland. Order to cause a coroner for that county to be elected in place of Roger Tunnok, incapacitated by age and infirmity.

To the justiciary of Ireland, or to him who supplies his place. Order to restore his barony to Drogo de Merlon, of Loueth, together with the money therefrom received deposited in the exchequer of Dublin, which barony was taken into the king's hands by John Wogan, late justiciary of Ireland, because, as he certified the king, the king's council in Ireland considered that, as the barony is held in chief and Robert de Verdoun and his accomplices have risen against the king in occupying the barony and lands pertaining thereto, the barony should be taken into the king's hands on account of the weakness of Drogo's bailiffs of that barony, who were unable to resist the said Robert, and that the money received from the same should be deposited in the exchequer of Dublin under the said bailiff's seal.

To the sheriff of Kent. Order to restore his lands and goods to Geoffrey de Coulyngge, rector of the church of Burgheremerssh, diocese of Canterbury, taken into the king's hands upon his indictment before John de Frisingfeld and his fellows, justices of oyer and terminer in that county, for the homicide of John Bunde, as he has purged his innocence before R. archbishop of Canterbury, to whom he was delivered according to the privilege of the clergy.

To the sheriff of Kent. Order to cause satisfaction to be made before the Ascension to those persons from whom victuals were bought by the king's servants sent into that county to make provision of victuals against the king's arrival at Dover.
May 10.
Windsor.
To the bailiffs of the honour of Albemarle. Order not to distrain Peter de Campania for his homage, as the king has taken his homage.
May 21.
Canterbury.
To Roger le Brabazoun and his fellows, justices of pleas coram rege. Order not to molest Margery, late the wife of John de Sancto Dionisio, of Rochester, committed to prison for not prosecuting her appeal of certain men for her husband's death, as the king has pardoned her the imprisonment and whatever pertains to him. To the sheriff of Southampton. Order to deliver to Adam de Bray, keeper of the king's horses staying at Chertsey (Certes'), what remains unpaid of the 100l. that the king ordered James de Norton, late sheriff of that county, to pay out of the tallage and the issues of his bailiwick to the said Adam for the maintenance of the above horses.
May 23.
Dover.
To Master John de Weston, chamberlain of Scotland. Order to deliver to Edmund de Hastinges, keeper of the town of Berwick-on-Tweed, as much as he can safely (bono modo) spare of the king's moneys and victuals in his custody and of what the king is about to send to Berwick, in part payment of the arrears of the wages of the said Edmund and his men defending that town.
May 8.
Sheen.
To him who supplies the place of the treasurer and to the barons of the exchequer. Order to discharge the king's clerk Geoffrey de Welleford of a rent of 40s. from December 15, in the sixth year of the king's reign, for a messuage in the parish of St. Dunstan near the New Temple, London, committed to him during pleasure by the king on August 12 in the above year, which tenement Roger Blome, deceased, held for life by demise from the master and brethren of the order of the Temple in England, of which Roger the said Geoffrey held it at ferm for the above rent, which tenement came to the king's hands upon Roger's death by reason of the Templars' lands being in his hands, as the king afterwards, on December 15 aforesaid, granted all the Templars' lands in London and the suburbs to Aymer de Valencia, earl of Pembroke.

To the sheriff of Gloucester. Order to cause Bartholomew de Badelesmere, keeper of the town of Bristol, taken into the king's hands for contempts and wrongs inflicted upon the king by the mayor, bailiffs, and community of the town, or him who supplies his place [to have] the return of all writs touching the town, as the mayor and bailiffs were wont to have before it was taken into the king's hands. To the sheriff of Huntingdon. Order to pay 12d. a day to Robert Squier, the king's huntsman, whom the king is sending into that county to take venison in his forests there during this season of fatness, and 2d. each daily to John de Brehull and Hikenettus, berners, Thomas Smalwode and Richard de Woxbrigge, veutrers, and ½d. each daily for twenty-four dogs de mota, twelve greyhounds, and one berselet, from June 5 next for so long as they shall stay in his bailiwick.
May 21.
Canterbury.
To John Abel, escheator this side Trent. Order to cause Thomas Cheyndut, son and heir of William Cheyndut, tenant in chief of the king, to have seisin of his father's lands, as he has proved his age before the said John and the king has taken his homage. By p.s. [2699.]
May 22.
Dover.
To the same. Order to pay a moiety of the issues of the priory of Lenton during the present voidance to Jacob de Spine and his fellows, merchants of the society of the Spini of Florence, in part payment of debts due to them from the king and his father, notwithstanding the king's late order to pay the issues of the priory to John Vanne and his fellows, merchants of the society of the Ballardi of Lucca, in part payment of debts due to them from the king.

To Edmund de Hastinges, keeper of the town of Berwick-on-Tweed. The king has received his letters sent by John de Sarum, the bearer hereof, and understands what is therein contained. The king has ordered Master John de Weston, chamberlain of Scotland, to deliver to him as much as he can of the king's moneys and victuals in his keeping and of those that the king is about to send thither, in part satisfaction of the wages of the said Edmund and of the men-at-arms in his company defending the said town, which the king charges him to carefully keep. To John Abel, escheator this side Trent. Order not to distrain John de Chausy, son and heir of John de Chausi, tenant in chief, for his homage for his father's lands, whereof the king ordered him to cause the said John to have seisin upon his finding security for payment of his relief, the king having taken his fealty for the same on March 29 last, as the king has respited his homage until the quinzaine of Michaelmas.
May 23.
Dover.
To Master Jordan Moraunt and William de Claydon, keepers of the archbishopric of Canterbury, void and in the king's hands. Order to pay to Robert de Kendale, constable of Dover castle and warden of the Cinque Ports, Nicholas Larcher, and William Larcher 200l. out of the issues of the bailiwick of Aldynton, which is of the archbishopric, for the passage of the king and those going with him to France. To the said keepers. Order to pay to Robert de Kendale 13s. 4d. daily for the wages of certain men of the king's household, archers and others, staying at Dover until the king's return, for so long as they shall stay there.
To the said constable. Order to receive the above money from the keepers aforesaid, and to pay from it the wages of the above men, whose names are set out in a schedule enclosed herewith.
May 20.
Canterbury.
To the keeper of the Templars' late lands in co. Bedford. Order to pay to Imbert Blaunk, Templar, 2s. a day for his wages from henceforth, as brother William de la More, deceased, the late master of the order in England, was wont to receive, the king having granted, at the instance of Sir Louis de Claro Monte, that Imbert shall receive the same wages as the said William received. To him who supplies the place of the treasurer and to the barons of the exchequer. Order to allow the executors of Nicholas de Langelond to have full administration of his goods, taken into the king's hands upon his death, upon their finding security for any debts due from him to the exchequer.
May 20.
Canterbury.
To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer of Dublin. Order to survey the king's castles of Roscoman, Randon, and Athlon, in Connaught (Connaitia), in the hands and custody of Richard de Burgo, earl of Ulster, for his lifetime, and to repair them out of the issues of the same, as the earl has shewn the king that the walls and houses of the same are ruinous, and that certain of the houses have fallen down. To the sheriff of Wiltshire. Order to pay to the king's yeoman John Wilemyn, keeper of the king's horses staying in those parts, 20l. for the expenses of the horses going thence to Sussex. By K.
To the sheriff of York. Order to pay to the king's clerk John de Rolleston, keeper of the castle of Scartheburgh, 100l. for the wages of the men defending the castle. By K.
John del Egge of Draicote, in the king's prison of Stafford for the death of Alina la Lynwebbe, of Draicote, has letters to the sheriff of Stafford to bail him until the first assize.
Thomas son of Peter de Tyntehull, in the king's prison of Somerton for the death of William son of Clement de Carswell, has letters to the sheriff of Somerset to bail himself until the first assize.
To Robert de Lughteburgh, keeper of certain of the late Templars' lands in co. Lincoln. Order to retain the wool of hoggets and other sheep (tam de bidentibus quam de ovibus) from the above lands for the king's use, and to do therewith what the king has ordered, although the king lately ordered him to deliver the custody of the said lands to Alexander de Abernithy, to whom the king had granted the same, together with all the goods and chattels in the said lands except the sheep's wool of this season. To William de Vallibus, constable of Knaresburgh castle. Order to repair the king's houses within the castle.

To Walter Waldeshef, the king's butler, or to his attorney. Order to cause thirty tuns of wine to be taken to the Tower of London and there deposited, according to the directions of W. bishop of Worcester, keeper of the great seal. By K.

To the same, or to his attorney in the port of London. Order to deliver to the monks of St. Peter's Westminster a tun of wine of the right prise for this year, according to the grant of Henry III. of a tun to be received at London yearly on the morrow of St. Botolph for the celebration of divine service.
To R. bishop of London and J. bishop of Lincoln, principal collectors of the tenth for three years imposed upon the clergy of England and Ireland by pope Clement V. Order to allow J. archbishop of Dublin respite until Easter for the whole tenth due from him.

To him who supplies the place of the treasurer and to the barons of the exchequer. Order to deliver to Hugh le Despenser, the elder, the wardships and marriages now in the king's hands and that shall next come to his hands by appraisement until he have been satisfied for 2,086l. 2s. 5d. due to him from the king, to wit 1,508l. 4s. 11d., the arrears of 2,544l. 6s. 8d., for divers debts due to him from the late and the present kings' time, for which the king lately assigned him the custodies and wardships on both sides the Trent, and 200l. that he paid into the treasury at Michaelmas term, in the fifth year of the king's reign, for the custody of the lands of the late Nicholas de Poyntz, tenant in chief, during the minority of his heir, and the marriage of his heir, which custody was resumed into the king's hands, and 37l. 17s. 6d. for eleven tuns of wine bought from him for the king's use in the second year of the reign by Henry de Say, then king's butler, and 100l. paid by him into the wardrobe to Ingelard de Warle, keeper thereof, for the king's use on November 5 last, and 40l. similarly paid on November 13, and 200l. similarly paid on November 25. The king has ordered the escheators to certify them of the value of such wardships and marriages when required so to do by the said Hugh.
