Upon Question, the House resolved into a Committee upon Thursday next, shall take into Consideration theMatter of Tonage and Poundage, with all Incidents thereunto ; and Mr. Sherfeild to have the Chair at that Committee.

Nowell's Complaint.

Sir Ro. Phillippes reporteth from the Committee for the Courts of Justice, Mr. Nowell's Petition against Mr. Attorney of the Duchy, against Tho. Brograve his Man, for Oppression, Injustice, and Vexation, expressed in Eight Articles; the last concerning scandalous Words against

Articles against Alleyne.

Mr. Selden reporteth the Business concerning the Examination of the Articles against Aleyne, and particularly Two Articles, touching upon the Privileges of the House; viz. the first and third Articles. - That Prigeon proved these, by a Letter under Aleyne's Hand, and confessed by him; wherein those Things are fully proved. That Aleyne, pressed by the Committee, to express whom he meant by the Puritan Faction, and Defeat of the King's Armies; he produced a Book, printed 19 Jac. wherein a Promise of Supply is recited to have been made by us: That the Armies, he intended, were those, for whom those Supplies intended. That the Puritan Faction those, which, in that Book, are by King James found fault with. That he hath underlined the several Places in the Book, whereby he proveth the Particulars. That his Conclusion was, he intended not this Parliament, but that mentioned in that Book, viz. of 18 Jac.

Upon Question, Aleyne to be brought, to answer this Contempt to the Commons House of Parliament, upon Monday next,

Bishop of Winchester.

Upon a Report from the grand Committee for Religion; Ordered, That Mr. Dr. Moore, shall be sent unto, by a Letter under Mr. Speaker's Hand, to come and justify the Words now related against the Bishop of Winchester. The Letter to be delivered to Sir D. Norton.
