Nov. 30.
Newcastle-on-Tyne.
To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer. Order to cause allowance to be made to the prior of Durham for 137l. 16s. 1d. in the biennial tenth last granted of the second year, whereof he is collector in the diocese of Durham, after having viewed two bills under the seal of the late king's chamberlainship of Scotland, in his possession, as he says, if they find that he has not previously received payment or allowance therefor, as he has besought the king to cause such allowance to be made to him, as the late king was bound to him in 233l. 6s. 8d. as may appear by the said bills, and the present king gave order by writ under the great seal that that sum should be allowed to him on the debts which he owed to the late king at the exchequer, by reason of which order 95l. 10s. 7d. of that sum were allowed to him, and the king has considered the damage suffered by the prior and convent before these times by the incursions of the Scots.
