To the justices of the Bench. Whereas the king has taken under his protection Richard son of Simon de Hugate of Driffield, about to set out in his service to Scotland, his men, lands, rents and all his possessions, and he wished Richard to be quit until Easter next of all pleas and suits except pleas of dower, unde nichil habet, and quare impedit, and assizes of novel disseisin and darrein presentment and attaints and except suits summoned before the justices in eyre, as is fully contained in the letters patent made to Richard, the letters to be of no value after Richard's return to England, and because he has secretly returned to England from Scotland, the king has revoked the said letters and notifies this to the justices ordering them to proceed in a suit before them between Richard son of Richard Aunsel of Wetewang, demandant, and the said Richard son of Simon, tenant, concerning a messuage and 8 bovates of land, except 22 acres of land in Hugate, notwithstanding the said letters of protection.
