Westminster.
To Thomas Graa escheator in Yorkshire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with three messuages and 60 acres of land and meadow in Faxflet, delivering to Richard Lelhome and Margery his wife any issues thereof taken; as lately the king ordered the escheator to certify in chancery the cause wherefore he took into the king's hand lands there which were of Peter Vaux of Southcave, and he returned that the said Peter held the premises in chief of the late king by knight service as of his manor of Faxflet, as of the crown, and without his licence aliened them to the said Richard and Margery in fee, which was done on 10 March 34 Edward III, that all this time the said Richard and Margery have occupied the same, taking the issues and profits, that they entered before 50 Edward III, and that therefore he took the same into the king's hand; and that trespass is pardoned by reason of general pardons made by the late king to the people of the realm in 50 Edward III.

To William Botreux, Richard Sergeux and William Eyr, appointed with other lieges to arrest John Treuarthian the elder, John his son, William Bevyle [and John] Laynerghe, (fn. 1) wherever found within the realm. Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of John Everard of Wiltesir, John Felde, John Wyche, Nicholas Tremayn, John Rosker and John Tregorrek of Cornwall, in favour of the said John Treuarthian, John his son and William, indicted by certain their enemies, as it is shewn the king on their behalf, for aiding and abetting in the manslaughter of Richard Eyr, slain it is said by John Horsyngton and other evildoers who are not yet convicted thereof; as the king has caused the tenor of that indictment to come before him in chancery, and the said John Treuarthian, John his son and William have petitioned the king for a stay, shewing that they are ready to answer and stand to right before the king or his justices; and in the statute lately published at Westminster it is contained that men so indicted are replevisable, provided they be of good fame, until the principals be convicted; and the said John Everard and the others have mainperned in chancery body for body and under a pain of 100l. to have the said John Treuarthian, John his son and William before the king or his justices at his command.

Writ of supersedeas omnino in respect of a commission issued to the said Richard, Guy, Thomas Stowe and Master John Blaunchard deceased to take cognisance and proceed in an appeal made to the king and council by John Wawe esquire from John Harleston pretending to be commissary and representative of the constable of England, and from a sentence by him given in a plea which was in the king's court before the said constable and the marshal against John Wawe, alleged surety and debtor of John Waldeshef for 1,000 'motouns du Roi' or 200l. for delivery of Thomas Huselle esquire and to quit him out of prison for Charles de Chastelton then the pretended prisoner of John Waldeshef, and in the principal cause, and to hear and determine the same and all things arising thereupon, and in respect of a second commission joining with them the said John [Cobeham], William and Thomas de Baketon and John Philipot knight deceased; as at suit of John Waldeshef, averring that John Wawe took no heed to prosecute his appeal, but of malice was thereby hindering John Waldeshef from having execution of the said sentence, the king commanded the said John de Cobeham, William, Thomas and Thomas to certify in chancery what diligence either party shewed before them, and which was remiss in his suit, and by certificate of Thomas and Thomas the king has learned that the said Guy and Thomas Stowe proceeded at the instance of the parties, that they pronounced in favour of the appeal and of their jurisdiction, decreeing that the process should be shown before them on 22 February last, that since that decree John Wawe has taken no heed to shew the same before them or other the commissioners, nor has any in his name, nor given diligence to proceed so far as they know, but that John Waldeshef has shewn all possible diligence, often and instantly requiring them to make an end of the appeal; and it seems to the king's court that the appeal was made to defraud John Waldeshef of execution as aforesaid, and not in good faith, and the king reckons it frivolous and abandoned, and has decreed that the cause be sent again to the constable and marshal for final debate. The king has commanded the constable and marshal and their representatives to do speedy justice to the parties, the appeal and the said commissions notwithstanding.

Surrey to set free Jevan ap Res Gough if taken; as upon information that Griffin ap Dekwaret, scheming of malice to disturb the king touching the patronage of a mediety of Landynan church in the diocese of Bangor, which patronage is annexed to the principality of Wales now in the king's hand, and Master William Loryng clerk touching his possession of the same, has averred to the court of Rome that the said mediety is at the provision of the pope, which it is not nor might be, and has procured himself a provision thereto, by colour whereof in contempt of the king, contrary to the provision and ordinance in such case published, he has procured the deposition of the said William, his own admission and induction, and many other things to the prejudice of the crown and the said William's hurt, the king lately ordered the sheriffs to arrest the said Griffin and the said Jevan, David ap Jevan ap Oweyn, Tidderun ap Jevan ap Oweyn and Meredith Vachon his maintainers, counsellors and abettors, so as to have them before the justices at Westminster in the octaves of Michaelmas.
