CHARITIES FOR THE POOR.
No endowed charities are recorded. There were occasional one-off charitable bequests to the poor in the later 16th and the earlier 17th century, (fn. 1) and small numbers received charitable payments from the Kirtling estate under the 1st earl of Guilford (1762-90) and the marquess of Bute (1843-8).
