LIST OF MAPS, PLANS, AND OTHER FIGURES

Grateful acknowledgement for permission to use material is made to the Staffordshire Archive Service, Staffordshire Library Service, the Staffordshire Planning and Economic Development Department, and the Trustees of the William Salt Library, Stafford. Figure 1 was drawn by J. A. Lawrence of the Department of Geography, Keele University, from a draft prepared by C. P. Lewis of the central Victoria County History staff and based on Ordnance Survey Map 1", index to the Tithe Survey. Figures 3-11, 14-16, 30, 32-5, 37-42, 44, and 46 were drawn by J. A. Lawrence from drafts prepared by M. W. Greenslade and N. J. Tringham, with assistance from Della Ryder and Dorothy Wilson of the Staffordshire County Planning and Economic Development Department; the drafts were based on the first edition of the relevant Ordnance Survey 6" maps.
