	Francis Needham and Symon Basill.
[November 5, 1604,].	Symon Basill and John de Critz obtained the wardship of Philip Saltmarsh from Viscount Cranborne, and came to an agreement over it with Francis Needham. But there exists some doubt about the validity of the wardship because of a deed of entail relating to the estate. It was therefore further agreed between the two parties that if, upon the evidence of witnesses, the deed of entail appeared valid to the Court of Wards, then Needham should pay Basill and de Critz an additional £160. On the other hand, if the entail is held to be insufficient in law, then Basill and de Critz are under an obligation to satisfy Needham for the money he has disbursed in the matter in the form of suits, which will compensate him, and also them, for the profits which they had hoped to gain from the wardship.— Undated. Certificate to the effect that by virtue of a Papal warrant from Clement VIII, directed by Vestrius Barbiani to Jacques Blaise, Bishop of St. Omer, William Bates (alias Breether), subdeacon of Wells and of the English College at Douai, has been ordained.—15 November, 1604.
