Jan. 12.
Westminster.
To the sheriffs of London. Order upon sight of these presents, to cause proclamation to be made that no one, upon pain of forfeiture, shall take corn out of the port of that city to parts beyond, without licence, or presume to sell ships, barges or fly-boats (fluvos) of England to any persons of the said parts, and if they find any doing such things after the proclamation they shall cause them to be arrested without delay, with the ships and the corn and other goods therein, as forfeit to the king, and shall keep them safely until further order, certifying the king from time to time of all their action in the matter. Robert de Merston, tailor of Fletstrete, acknowledges that he owes to Ellen de Newemay, laundress, 7 marks 12s. 3d.; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels in the said city.
