Sept. 29.
Westminster.
To Maculin Walwayn escheator in Herefordshire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manors of Lugwardyn and Lymbury, delivering to Giles Brugge esquire, Nicholas Mattesdoun and Margaret his wife any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that John Chaundos knight at his death held those manors, that they are not held of the king, and that Giles Brugge son of Alice one of the daughters of Elizabeth his sister, and the said Margaret wife of Nicholas her other daughter are his cousins and next heirs.

To John Bamfelde escheator in Cornwall. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manors of Resteeke, Ardevre and Goveyly, delivering to Margaret wife of John Pedyt esquire any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that at his death John Pedyt held those manors in her right, and that they are not held of the king.

To the escheator in Cornwall. Order to take of Margaret who was wife of John Pedyt esquire an oath etc., and in presence of John Pedyt, son and heir of her husband, or of his attorneys, to assign her dower.

Westminster.
To the mayor of Calais, being escheator in that town. Order to give William Ryman livery of a messuage or inn with three shops and appurtenances in the said town, and the issues thereof taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before John Parke late mayor and escheator, that William Cokerham at his death held no lands therein of the late king in chief in his demesne as of fee nor in service, but that Thomas late earl of Arundell was seised of the said messuage and shops, and held the same of King Henry IV by the service of two watches for safe guard of the town for all services, that he gave the same to the said William for life, by name of William Cokeram, rendering to the earl and his heirs one rose a year at Midsummer for all services, that he was thereof seised as of freehold, that the earl after gave the same, among other things, to Thomas archbishop of Canterbury his uncle, Robert Pobelowe, Thomas Harlynge clerks, John Tauke, John Boerley, John Whetehales, Robert Jugeler and John Bartelot, all now deceased, and to the said William Ryman, their heirs and assigns, by name of his whole inn with three shops and other appurtenances then held for life by William Cokeram, and that the said William attorned tenant to them, and was their tenant all his life, with reversion to William Ryman and his heirs; and the king has taken his fealty, and for half a mark paid in the hanaper has respited his homage until Michaelmas day next.

To Robert Longe escheator in the county of Suthampton. Order to take the fealty of William Ryngebourne, son and heir of William Ryngebourne esquire, and to give him seisin of his father's lands; as he has proved his age before the escheator, and for 6s. 8d. paid in the hanaper the king has respited his homage until Michaelmas day next.

To Thomas Palmere escheator in Staffordshire. Order to give John Swynerton, son of John Swynerton son of John Swynerton and cousin and heir of his grandfather, seisin of his said grandfather's lands; as he has proved his age before the escheator in Norhamptonshire, and the king has taken his homage and fealty. By p.s. [2155.]
Nov. 22.
Westminster.
To the escheator in Gloucestershire and the march of Wales adjacent. Order to take the fealty of Ralph son and heir of John Bowliers esquire and Joan his wife, and to give him seisin of the lands which his father held by the courtesy of England after his said mother's death; as he has proved his age before the escheator, and for half a mark paid in the hanaper the king has respited his homage until Whitsuntide next.

To the sheriff of Lincoln for the time being. Order every year during pleasure to pay to Robert Tendale the king's serjeant, one of the yeomen of his chamber, 6d. a day of the issues, profits and revenues of that county which with advice and assent of the council the king has granted him, even as William Sutton had it in his life time, notwithstanding that by grant of the king the said Robert has during pleasure the offices called 'ambreshope' (fn. 1) within the commotes of Isshap' and Uphaph' co. Caernarvan in Northwales to the value of 10l. a year. By p.s. [2126.]
