Westminster.
To the constable of the Tower of London or his lieutenant. Order to set free the duke of Somerset who is in custody in the Tower for certain causes moving the king and council, the archbishops of Canterbury and York, the bishops of London, Winchester, Bath, Norwich, Hereford, Lincoln and Bangor, the dukes of York and Buckingham, the earls of Warrewyk, Salisbury, Devon, Wiltesir and Worcester the treasurer, viscounts Beaumond and Bourghchier, the prior of St. John, and [lords] Cromwell, Roos, Sudeley, Bonevile, Graystok, Saye, Fitz Waren and Stourton knights being there present, the king made order that the duke of Somerset should be committed to bail until the morrow of All Souls next. To the king's chief butler for the time being in the port of London, and to his representative, deputy or deputies there for the time being. Order of his wines in that port to deliver to the now abbess, prioress and convent of Berkyng, of the king's patronage, the arrears of one tun a year of red wine of Gascony since 12 November, 31 Henry VI, on which date the king granted the same to Katherine de la Pole abbess thereof, the prioress and convent and to their successors.
