Briefly registered, thus: salutem etc. Religionis zelus etc., inseratur ut in proxima de verbo ad verbum usquepontificatus nostri anno quinto.’ The ‘proxima’ in question is a fully registered dispensation to the foregoing effect, on ff. 316d.–317r., to John Hutteman, a monk of the Cistercian monastery of Riddaghehusen, in the diocese of Halberstadt, a remarkable feature about which is that amongst the non obstantibus clauses is ‘ac generalis concilii et quibusvis aliis apostolicis necnon bone memorie Ottonis et Ottoboni olim in regno Anglie apostolice sedis legatorum ac in provintialibus et synodalibus conciliis editis generalibus vel specialibus constitutionibus et ordinationibus … The Otto and Ottobon constitutions clause is naturally found regularly in similar dispensations concerning England, but not in those which concern other countries. There is evidently an error of registration at this point, this German and some other English dispensation having perhaps been mixed up and the two rolled into one. This Anglo-German combination has the same subscriptions and marginal date as above.]
