1327. 15 Kal. Oct. Avignon. (f. 5d.)	To the bishop of Hereford. Mandate to do justice between the rector of Eyton and the abbess and convent of Pollesworth. Roger, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield unreasonably ordered the rector to pay two-thirds of his small income to the abbess by way of pension, she and the convent being already well provided; and the rector was obliged to take an oath to do this. Thomas, in ignorance of this, found on taking possession of the rectory that the remaining portion was not enough to support him; whereupon the pope ordered Master Richard Bernard, archdeacon of Salop, the chancellor, and Gilbert Bruera, canon of Lichfield, to annul the obligation and oath; pending the cause, the abbess and convent were ordered to do nothing, but they brought the matter before the secular courts on the ground that the pension was a charge on the rectory, and that bishop Walter had sequestrated the fruits; the rector had recourse to the judges, praying them to decide the matter, but the archdeacon and canon Roger de Mereschal, to whom the chancellor and Gilbert had committed their powers, refused to take further cognisance of it; the rector then appealed to the pope, and the abbess and convent deprived him of the rectory, and presented it to William de Ippeston. The rector prays the pope for a remedy, declaring that he fears to summon the abbess and convent within the diocese of Lichfield.

6 Id. June. Avignon. (f. 22d.)	To Simon, archbishop of Canterbury; confirmation of his election. The see being void by the death of Walter, the prior and chapter appointed Robert de Dovoria, Thomas de Greneweye, and Richard de Oxenden, to choose seven other monks to make the election, they chose Hugh de Sancta Margarita, sacristan, Geoffrey Poterel, almoner, Thomas Stoyl, Nicholas de Ivingho, Hugh de Sancto Ivone, John Everard, and Edmund de Adesham, who elected Simon, rector of Tunstalle; the election was published, and afterwards presented to the pope, who, on its being examined by three cardinals, confirms it.
	Concurrent letters to the prior and chapter of Canterbury, to the clergy, and to the people of the diocese, to vassals of the church, to suffragans of the see, and to the king.
Id. Jan. Avignon. (f. 25.)	To the bishop of Lincoln. Commission and mandate to annul the sentence of excommunication issued by the president of the order of St. Gilbert against Roger de Stanes, canon of the priory of Sempringham, on certain unsworn charges made against him, which he denied on oath.
Kal. Feb. Avignon. (f. 29.)	To Philip de Daventre. Provision, at the request of Edmund, earl of Kent, son of king Edward, of a canonry and prebend of Southwell, provision having already been made to him of the same; but as in the papal letters it was not mentioned that he was rector of Waldene Woton, in the diocese of Lincoln, value 32 marks, provision is made anew to him of the canonry and prebend; if there is none void at present, then reservation is made to him of the same.

Kal. May. Avignon. (f. 30d.)	To Alan de Conesburg, D.C.L. Provision of the canonry of Wells and prebend of Yatton, void by the death of Robert de Baldok, provision having already been made to him of the same; but as it appears that Robert was deprived of them before his death, provision is made anew; notwithstanding that Alan is rector of Hikilton, and has a prebend of St. Mary's, Stafford; each of these benefices being valued at 12 marks.

9 Kal. July. Avignon. (f. 36.)	To Simon, archbishop of Canterbury. Faculty to contract a loan of 2000l. to meet his expenses at the apostolic see, to be repaid in four years.
1327. 9 Kal. Jan. Avignon. (f. 48.)	To the prior, brethren, and sisters of the monastery of Sempringham. Confirmation, with exemplifications, of the appropriation of the parish church of Wyssenden, value 50 marks, their revenues not being enough to support forty canons and two hundred sisters, especially since the payment of 40 marks by the monastery of Paisley has ceased for fourteen years by reason of the wars. The said appropriation was made by Walter, archbishop of Canterbury at Northampton, 8 Kal. Feb. 1319, under papal mandate, dated 14 Kal. May, an. 3.
1328. Id. June. Avignon. (f. 61d.)	To Robert de Wodehous, canon of York, who is the king's treasurer. Provision, at king Edward's and queen Isabella's request, of the archdeaconry of Richmond, void by the consecration of Tailarandus, otherwise Elias, bishop of Auxerre; notwithstanding that Robert has canonries and prebends of Lincoln, St. Mary's Southwell, and St. Andrew's Bishops Auckland. a canonry of York, with expectation of a prebend, and is warden of St. Nicholas's hospital, Pontefract.
	Concurrent mandate to Richard de Ayremynne, canon of Lincoln, Walter de London, canon of Salisbury, and another named.

Provision of the canonry of Chichester, and prebend of Huvaville, void by the consecration of Simon, archbishop of Canterbury; notwithstanding that he has a canonry and prebend of Llandaff, and is rector of Bradstede, in the diocese of Canterbury.

1328. 15 Kal. Aug. Avignon. (f. 151.)	To Master John de Bourne, B.C.L already dispensed on account of illegitimacy, and rector of Great Carleton in Lindesay. Dispensation to resign that benefice and obtain another.
8 Id. July. Avignon. (f. 155d.)	To John de Hale, already dispensed on account of illegitimacy, and rector of Bentley, in the diocese of Lichfield, who, believing that by the subsequent clandestine marriage of his father and mother he was legitimated, resigned that benefice and accepted a portion in All Saints, Derby, value 60s. and the perpetual vicarage of Wirkesworth, value 10 marks. Dispensation to retain the same.
6 Id. May. Avignon. (f. 155d.)	To John, bishop of Winchester. Faculty to appoint a prior of his church in place of Richard, who, seeing that he is unfit to govern the monks, is ready to resign; it being unadvisable that the chapter should elect.

Commission and mandate, at the request of Henry earl of Lancaster and Leicester, steward of England, to divide the prebend of Eccleshall in Lichfield, value 100 marks, in three parts, it being now held by John de Kinardeseye, and, without prejudice to him, and with his consent, to constitute two prebends, giving the third portion to the dean and chapter; the fruits of the two portions to be paid to the said John until his death, or resignation of them.

Provision of a canonry of York, with reservation of a prebend, notwithstanding that he has a canonry of London, with expectation of a prebend, and, on the death of Robert de Baldok, obtained the archdeaconry of Middlesex, which he is ready to resign.

Commission and mandate to incorporate to the monastery of St. Augustine, Canterbury, the parish churches of Wyvelesberghe, Stone in Oxene, and Bore Waremeshe (Burmarsh), value together 46l. of the patronage of the abbot and convent, who support four monks at Oxford, or in some place of studies. Perpetual vicars are to be appointed.
1328. Kal. Feb. Avignon. (f. 306.)	To Margaret wife of Edmund de Wodestok, son of the late king Edward. Indult to have divine offices celebrated privately in places where she may be that are under an interdict.

2 Id. July. Avignon. (f. 355.)	To Walter de Meriet, who in his twenty-first year obtained the rectory of Wydecombe, in the diocese of Wells, and held it for four years without being ordained. Rehabilitation with remission of fruits received, of which he is to give two years to the papal camera for the subsidy against heretics.

1327. 8 Id. Nov. Avignon. (f. 357d.)	To Master Philip Sapiti, papal chaplain, archdeacon of Winchester. Faculty, at the request of James, cardinal of St. George's, to dispose of his personal property by will.
1328. 3 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 363d.)	To the archbishop of Canterbury. Mandate to make order touching St. Saviour's, Faversham. In the suit between John called ‘le Orfreyser,’ who says he is abbot, and Robert de Osprenge, proctor of John called ‘Ive,’ who also claims to be abbot, it was urged on the part of the first that although he had held the office for some time he was deprived and replaced by John Ive, and kept in custody by the king's officers. On John Ive's part it was stated that le Orfreyser was guilty of dilapidation and simony, which he confessed before Walter, late archbishop, to whom he resigned his office, to which John Ive was elected, the election being confirmed by the archbishop, after which le Orfreyser, wandering about the country alone, finally came to the apostolic see and laid a complaint against John Ive. Whereupon the pope orders the matter to be decided on the spot, and not in the Roman court.
12 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 368.)	To Bertrand, cardinal of St. Mary's in Aquiro. Faculty to receive the resignations of Roger de Convenis, canon and dean of Lichfield, and of John Gasci, canon of Lerida, who wish to exchange benefices.
