June 4. 94. Commission of Robert Earl of Essex, Captain-General of the Parliament's army, to the 25 persons under-named, authorising them or nine of them to adjudicate on the seizures, made by Colonel Edmond Harvey and Major Turner, of money, plate, arms, ammunition, &c., supposed to belong to Papists, malignants and other ill-affected persons, our former commission of the 27th March, directed to the Committee of the Militia for London, being found unworkable by reason of the many engagements of that Committee. The troops of horse under Col. Harvey are to be maintained and paid first out of the proceeds, and the remainder to be employed in the service of the state as shall be ordered. [Certified copy. June 5. 95. Warrant of the Committee for Safety of the Kingdom to the Treasurers at Guildhall, and to Sir Gilbert Gerard, Treasurer-atWars. That the proceeds of the plate sent from Windsor be forthwith paid over by the Treasurers at Guildhall to Sir Gilbert Gerard, to be delivered to Mr. White, agent to Lord Fairfax, for supply of the army in the north under the command of Lord Fairfax, according to an Order of the House of Commons of the 27th May. [1 p.] Subjoined,
95. i. Receipt of Wm. White for 649l. 7s. 8d. being the proceeds of the plate. 13 June 1643. [¼ p.]
June 6. 96. Wm. Flesher to Col. Harvey. I have acquainted the Lord General [the Earl of Essex] with the seizure of 100l. belonging to Lady Gage, and he desires you to deliver it back to her if you think fit, but wholly refers it to yourself. [½ p.] Annexed,
96. i. Receipt of Lady Mary Gage for 100l. returned to her by Col. Harvey, which had been seized by some of his soldiers at their guard at Kingston-on-Thames. [¼ p.]

97. Richard Browne, English Ambassador at Paris, to Sir T. Row. Thanks for his large instructions concerning the Palatine business; will employ his best endeavours in the service of his Electoral Highness. Sends copy of part of his despatch to Sir Edward Nicholas. Mr. Paul and myself are very shortly to go together again to Mons. d'Avaux, and I hope our joint industry will in time produce some effects worthy your knowledge. [1 p.]
June 14. 98. Order of the Lords and Commons for regulating printing and suppressing the great late abuses in printing many false, seditious and unlicensed pamphlets, to the great defamation of religion and government; also authorising the master and wardens of the Stationers' Company to search for and seize all books they shall find printed or reprinted by any having no lawful interest in them, being entered into the Hall-book to any other man as his proper copies. June 16. Order of the House of Commons. That the Committee for the Levant Company be revived, and that their first meeting be held on Monday sevennight, and that the petition preferred by that Company concerning Strangers' consulage be referred to the consideration of that Committee. June 26. 99. Order made by the Deputy Lieutenants and Committees for co. Surrey upon receiving a command from the Lord General [Essex] for the raising of 100 horse for the service of the Parliament in cos. Sussex and Surrey. That 20 horse be raised within the East Division and 10 in the Middle Division of Surrey. The horses to be raised before Saturday night and delivered at the Blue Boar in Holborn for the use of Sir Thos. Middleton. Seven names subscribed. [Copy. 1 p.]
June 26. 100. Accounts of Captain Kempson with Lord Forbes, Captain Peckham and various other officers. Money advanced for transport of soldiers from Dover to Ireland, clearing the vessels, buying provisions, &c. Particulars of money agreed to be due and payable to Lord Forbes from the Committee of Adventurers by Sea. [Damaged by damp. 5½ pp.]
June 27. 101. Receipt by the treasurers for the new loan and contribution for the relief of Ireland. For goods, of which a note is given; to the value of 49l. 19s. received from William Thornbury of London, gent., for the above purpose. [¾ p.] Underwritten,
101. i. Certificate by Wm. Tibbes. That the above goods were received by Ben. Goodwyn by order of the Committee, June 27, 1643, and were sent by him to Dublin. [¼ p.]
