Prayers.

Parliaments and Elections.

THE House, according to former Order, was this Day resolved into a Grand Committee. And

Mr. Serjeant Thorpe was in the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Serjeant Thorpe reports from the Grand Committee, their Resolution, That, in order to the declaring a certain Time for putting a Period to the Sitting of this Parliament, the Committee is of Opinion, That, in the First place, Consideration be had of the stating the Succession of future Parliaments, and of the Regulating of their Elections.

Resolved, &c. That, in order to the declaring a certain Time for putting a Period to the Sitting of this Parliament, this House is of Opinion, That, in the First place, Consideration be had of the stating the Succession of future Parliaments, and of the Regulating of their Elections.

Ordered, That a Committee be named to take into Consideration the Settling of the Succession of future Parliaments, and regulating their Elections; and to present Heads to the House, to be the Grounds of their Debate touching the same: Viz. Sir Henry Vane senior and junior, Commissary General Ireton, Dr. Palmer, Colonel Rich, Colonel Sidney, Major Salwey, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Scott: And all that come, to have Voices: And the special Care hereof is committed to Sir Henry Vane junior, and Dr. Palmer: And the Committee are to meet on Friday next, in the Exchequer Chamber, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon; and so on every Monday and Friday.

Col. Lilburne, &c.

Ordered, That the Lieutenant of the Tower do take care, that Lieutenant Colonel Lilburne, Mr. Walwin, Mr. Prince, and Mr. Overton, have necessary Provisions made for them, for their Subsistence.
