Church of East Thorney, in East Wittering (W. Suss.); entered under bp. Osbern, Bosham church, 1086 (DB I 17b; cf. AS Chs. of Selsey no. 18 note). First reference to preb. is 5 June 1290 (Chart. Chichester no. 1074 = Cal. Charter Rolls II 349). Agreement between preb. Bracklesham (list 12) and this preb. over watercourse, 6 Apr. 1298 (Chart. Chichester no. 1075). Royal grant of free warren in Thorney and Martinsgrave 5 June 1290 (Cal. Charter Rolls II 349). Also rents in Bracklesham (Inq. Non. p. 356b). See also Inq. Non. p. 366a; VCH Suss. Last occ. 24 Dec. 1292 (Chart. Chichester no. 904). Certainly died before 26 May 1337, when his successor in this preb. had permission to augment his chantry in St Faith's chapel (ibid. no. 913); presum. died before first occ. of his successor, 6 Apr. 1298.
