Imposition on Wines, &c. Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for granting His Majesty an Imposition upon all Wines and Vinegar imported, between the Four and Twentieth Day of June 1685, and the Four and Twentieth Day of June 1693."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House; presently.

The House was adjourned into a Committee.

The House was resumed.

The Earl of Bridgwater reported, "That the Committee of the whole House have been in Consideration of the Bill for granting His Majesty an Imposition upon all Wines and Vinegar, &c. and have read the Bill throughout, and then in Paragraphs; and are of Opinion, that the said Bill is fit to pass, without any Amendments or Alterations."

To which the House agreed.

E. of Ossory's Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to enable James Lord Butler of Moore-Parke, and Earl of Ossory in the Kingdom of Ireland, to make a Jointure to such Woman as he shall marry."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Bill for reversing L. Stafford's Attainder.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for reversing the Attainder of William late Viscount Stafford."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Protests against it.

I protest against this Bill, because the Preamble was not amended, and no Defect in Point of Law alledged as a Reason for the Reversal of the Attainder.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for Naturalization of James Dusaii, Theodore Janssen, and others."

ORDERED, That this Bill is committed to the same Committee as the Bill was for naturalizing Esselbron and others; and any Five, to meet To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the Clock, in the Lord Privy Seal's Lodgings.

Bill to prevent Minors clandestine Marriages.

The House was adjourned into a Committee, to consider of the Amendments to prevent Minors marrying without their Parents Consent.

The House was resumed.

The Earl of Huntingdon reported, "That the Committee of the whole House have gone through the Bill concerning Minors; and they have considered the Amendments, and have made some Alterations in them; and that the Opinion of the Committee is, That the said Bill be engrossed, with the said Amendments."

The said Amendments were read Twice, and Agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed with the said Amendments.

Message to H. C. with the E. of Ossory's and L. Stafford's Bills.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir John Coell and Doctor Eddisbury:

To deliver Two Bills passed this House, and to desire the Concurrence of the House of Commons to them:

1. "An Act to enable James Lord Butler of Moore Parke, and Earl of Ossory in the Kingdom of Ireland; to make a Jointure to such Woman as he shall marry."

Wingate versus Astry & al.

This House being moved, on the Behalf of Sir Francis Wingate, who hath a Petition of Appeal depending here, to which Sir James Astry hath put in his Answer, "That a Day may be appointed for Hearing of the said Cause:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel at the Bar, upon the said Petition and Answer, on Friday the 12 of June Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the said Sir Francis Wingate is to cause Notice to be given to the said Sir James Astry and others therein concerned for that Purpose.

Coke versus Fountaine.

Upon reading the Petition of Edward Cooke Esquire, an Infant of about Seven Years old, by the Lady Anne Coke his Mother and Guardian; shewing, "That Andrew Fountaine hath lately exhibited his Petition to your Lordships against a Decree obtained against him in the Exchequer Four Years since, by William Guavas, &c. Executors of John Coke deceased; and praying to be heard by Counsel, to shew Cause why the Appeal should not be revived:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition of Edward Coke, presented this Day by the Lady Coke his Guardian, be, and is hereby, referred to the Consideration of the Lords Committees for Petitions, to whom is referred the Petition of Andrew Fountaine aforesaid; whose Lordships, having considered thereof, and heard such Persons concerning the same as they shall think fit, are afterwards to make Report to the House.
