The Lords following took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes:

Sir T. Blount's Bill:

The Earl of Bridgewater reported from the Committee, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Sir Thomas Pope Blount Baronet to make a Settlement, upon the Marriage of his Eldest Son," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Sir Thomas Pope Blount to make a Settlement, upon the Marriage of his Eldest Son."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. that the Lords have passed it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Holford and Mr. Pitts:

To let the Commons know, the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Stoughtons Bill.

The Earl of Bridgewater reported from the Committee, the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate, late of Sir Nicholas Stoughton and Sir Lawrence Stoughton, Baronets, deceased, in Trustees, to be sold for the Payment of their Debts, and raising Portions for the Daughters of the said Sir Nicholas Stoughton," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

To which the House agreed; and ordered the said Bill to be engrossed.

Trials for Treason, for regulating Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for regulating Trials, in Cases of Treason and Misprision of Treason."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, presently.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, to consider of the said Bill.

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Huntindgon reported, "That the Committee is of Opinion, that a Select Committee be appointed, to perfect a Clause, to be added to the Bill;" (videlicet,)

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Committee.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Marquis of Normanby reported the Clause, as drawn by the Committee.

Which being read; the House was again adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the said Bill.

The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Huntingdon reported, "That the Committee had gone through the Bill, with some Amendments; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House."

Which Amendments, being read Twice, were agreed to, and are as follow; (videlicet,)

"3 Pr. 20 Line. After ["committed,"] insert ["And that no Person or Persons shall be prosecuted for any such Treason, or Misprision of such Treason, committed or done, or to be committed or done, within the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, or Town of Berwick upon Tweed, before the said Five and Twentieth Day of March, unless he or they shall be indicted thereof within Three Years after the said Five and Twentieth Day of March: Always provided and excepted, That if any Person or Persons whatsoever shall be guilty of designing, endeavouring, or attempting any Assassination on the Body of the King, by Poison or otherwise, such Person or Persons may be prosecuted at any Time, notwithstanding the aforesaid Limitation."

"4 Pr. 14 Line. After ["made"], add the Clause marked (A); (videlicet,) "And whereas, by the good Laws of this Kingdom, in Cases of Trials of Commoners for their Lives, a Jury of Twelve Freeholders must all agree in one Opinion. before they can bring a Verdict, either for Acquittal or Condemnation of the Prisoner; and whereas, upon the Trials of Peers or Peeresses, a major Vote is sufficient either to acquit or condemn: Be it further Enacted, by the Authority aforesaid, That, upon the Trial of any Peer or Peeress, either for Treason or Misprision, all the Peers who have a Right to sit and vote in Parliament shall be duly summoned, Twenty Days at least before every such Trial, to appear at every such Trial; and that every Peer so summoned, and appearing at such Trial, shall vote in the Trial of such Peer or Peeress so to be tried; every such Peer first taking the Oaths mentioned in an Act of Parliament made in the First Year of the Reign of King William and Queen Mary, intituled, "An Act for abrogating the Oaths of Supremacy and Allegiance, and appointing other Oaths;" and also every such Peer subscribing and audibly repeating the Declaration mentioned in an Act for the more effectual preserving the King's Person and Government, by disabling Papists from sitting in either House of Parliament, and made in the Thirtieth Year of the Reign of the late King Charles the Second."
