The King's Answer to the Address.

The Lord Chancellor reported, "That the House did, on Wednesday last, present to His Majesty their humble Address; to which His Majesty was pleased to return the following most Gracious Answer:

"My Lords,

"I return you My Thanks, for this dutiful and affectionate Address. The just Sense you express of the Situation of Affairs, and of the proper Conduct to be pursued, in order to extinguish the Rebellion, support our Friends, and defeat the Designs of our Enemies, gives Me great Satisfaction. I rely on your vigorous Support; and you may depend on My firmly adhering to such Measures as shall be most for the Honour of My Crown, and the true Interest of My Kingdoms in our present Circumstances."

Ordered, That the said Address, and His Majesty's most Gracious Answer thereunto, be forthwith printed and published.

D. Chandos et al. Pet. referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Henry Duke of Chandos and Anne Dutchess of Chandos his Wife, on Behalf of themselves; and of the said Duke and Charles Earl of Aylesbury, for and on Behalf of James Brydges commonly called Marquis of Carnarvon, and Caroline Brydges his Sister, commonly called Lady Caroline Brydges, both Infants, the only Issue of the said Duke by Mary his late Wife, deceased, lately called Marchioness of Carnarvon, One of the Daughters of the said Earl; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for Sale of a sufficient Part of the Estates settled by Deeds of Lease and Release, of the 30th and 31st of May 1734, made in Pursuance of the Articles entered into upon and previous to the Marriage of the said Duke, then called Marquis of Carnarvan, to raise Money, to pay off certain Mortgages in the Petition mentioned; and for several other Purposes in the Petition expressed:

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be, and is hereby, referred to the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas and Mr. Baron Clarke; with the usual Directions, according to the Standing Order.

V Grimston & al. Leave for a Bill:

After reading, and considering, the Report of the Judges to whom was referred the Petition of William Lord Viscount Grimston and others; praying Leave to bring in a Private Bill:

It is Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, pursuant to the said Petition and Report.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for giving Power to the Sons of William Lord Viscount Grimston to make Jointures, on their respective Marriages, in Lieu of a defective Power contained in the Settlement made on the Marriage of Samuel Grimston Esquire, deceased."

Vincent's Bill.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for empowering Francis Vincent Esquire to make a Jointure, on any future Marriage, and Provision for his Daughters and Younger Sons," stands committed, which is appointed to meet To-morrow, be put off to Friday next.

Inkpen Common Fields enclosing, Bill.

Ordered likewise, "That the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for confirming and establishing Articles of Agreement, and an Award, for enclosing and dividing certain Common Fields, within the Parish of Inkpen, in the County of Berks," stands committed, be revived; and meet on Friday next.

Vincent's Bill.

The Lord Bishop of Rochester reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for empowering Francis Vincent Esquire to make a Jointure, on any future Marriage, and Provision for his Daughters and Younger Sons," was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee, had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto."

Which, being read by the Clerk, were agreed to by the House.

Ordered, That the said Bill, with the Amendments, be engrossed.

V. Grimston's Bill.

The Lord Willoughby of Parham reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for confirming and establishing Articles of Agreement, and an Award, for enclosing and dividing certain Common Fields, within the Parish of Inkpen, in the County of Berks," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto."

Which, being read by the Clerk, were agreed to by the House.

Ordered, That the said Bill, with the Amendments, be engrossed.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for adjourning the Court of Session in Scotland, and for remedying the Inconveniencies arising from the Surcease of Justice in that Part of the Kingdom;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Upon reading the Petition of Peter Torras; praying, That his Name may be inserted in the Bill now depending in this House, for naturalizing Herman Meyer and Herman Rudolph Klincke:"

Plunket against V. Kingstand & al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of William Plunket of Portmarnock in the County of Dublin Gentleman; complaining of an Order, or Decree, of the Court of Chancery in Ireland, of the 14th of December last, made in a Cause wherein the Appellant was Plaintiff, and Henry Lord Viscount Kingsland, Francis Lord Athurny, and Thomas Wakely Esquire, were Defendants, whereby certain Issues at Law were directed to be tried; and praying, "That the said Order, or Decree, may be reversed; and that the Appellant may have such further and other Relief as to their Lordships in their great Wisdom shall seem meet:"

It is Ordered, That the said Henry Lord Viscount Kingsland, Francis Lord Athurny, and Thomas Wakely Esquire, may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and do put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on or before Tuesday the 4th Day of March next; and that Service of this Order on their Clerks in Court or Agents be deemed good Service.

Upon reading the Petition of Humphrey Owen of Bodidda in the County of Caernarvon Esquire and Anne Owen his Wife, Daughter of Thomas Wynne late of Diffrynaled in the County of Denbigh Esquire, deceased, and of William Bulkeley of Llanelidan in the said County of Denbigh Clerk; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, to sell or mortgage a settled Estate in the said Counties, in the Petition mentioned, or a competent Part thereof, to discharge Debts and Encumbrances, and for other Purposes therein expressed:

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Justice Dennison and Mr. Justice Burnett; with the usual Directions, according to the Standing Order.
