Footnotes

  • 1. No trace has been found of John de Bishopstone, given in Hennessy, Chich. Lists, without references, for the year 1303.
  • 2. Hennessy, Chich. Lists, gives William de Wendlyngburgh, without references, for the year 1362. This may be a misreading of Lamb., Reg. Islip f. 185, where Robert de Wendlyngburgh, preb. of Hampstead, occ. as a can. of Chichester in that year, and John de Wendlyngburgh occ. as treasurer.
  • 3. The will is dated 16 Nov. 1374, but as Richard le Scrope occ. in it as dean of Chichester this must be an error for 1384.
  • 4. No evidence has been found for William Brakelesham, given by Le Neve-Hardy, without references, for the year 1483.
