6 April 1576.

Villa, pure.

The baillies, counsale and dekynnis efter avisement with the ordour taikin of the collectioun appoyntit for sustenyng of the pure, fyndis the said pure can nocht be sustenit be that ordour, because the peple will na wayis liberallie nor willinglie deburse money for thair sustentatioun, quhairfor, all in ane voce, thay discharge the said ordour, and in tymes cuming ordanis that nane be sufferrit to beg within this toun bot sic as sall haue the townys mark vpoun thair hattis, bonnettis, or schulderris, and thair markis to be disponit at the discretioun of the baillies, and the vtheris that wanttis the saidis markis to be dischargit, and gyf thay dissobey to be banischet the toun.

Villa, craftis, tailyouris, prentissis, burgessis.

[The bailies and council] efter lang ressonying with Jhonne Murdo, dekyn of the tailyouris tuiching the making of [blank] Fischer, allegit prentise, to be maid burges conforme to the townys actis, fyndis and deliueris that na craftisman salbe admyttit burges that bringis nocht with him his indentour of prentischip, with testificatioun of his gude and trew seruice all the tyme he wes boundin prentis; and the said Murdo allegeand the said Fischerris name to be in thair craft buke, and thairfor aucht nocht to be refusit, and the saidis baillies and counsale fand na fayth to be gevin to thair bukis in the caussis of the commoun weill, the samyn havand na autoritie bot sic as thay had vsurpit and taiken at thair awin handis; and Murdo protestit for remeid.

Precept, thesaurer, Bohemeanys.

The baillies and counsale ordanis the thesaurer to caus ane honorable banquet to be maid to certane gentilmen, strangearris of the countre of Bohemia, quhilk come in this realme for veseing of oure Souerane Lord the King.

The baillies and counsale efter hering of the compttis and expenssis maid vpoun the Bohemeanys banquet, fyndis the samyn to iijxx-xvij li. xiij s. iiij d., quhilk thay ordane Mongew Russell, thesaurer, pay to the fuirnissaouris thairof.
