1. Mary, Duchess of Richmond, to Sir Thos. Smith. Requests licences for certain persons to preach; also for one Huntingdon and Dr. King of Norwich. Thanks for his favours shewn to Sir Wm. Farmer.

4. Wm. Goldwyn, Vice Provost of Eton, to Sir Tho. Smith as Provost of Eton. Mr. Cross and Mr. Dobson have been chosen Bursars. The report that the master of the school is a dice-player, &c. is untrue.

23. Wm. Rogers to Sir T. Smith. Has sent him by the bearer, Mr. Holinshed, six pair of double gloves. Dr. Redman has been before the Visitors and made a protestation as to certain passages in the Homilies. The Commissioners purpose to proceed with Clare Hall.
May 29. Warrant to Thos. Chamberlayn (Under-Treasurer of Bristol) to deliver 60l. to Rice A. Morgan, Ph. Lower, and N. Buckingham, of the King's reward for the taking of Cole the pirate. [Docquet, 30 May.]
