Power, during pleasure, for Robert de Leyburn, knight, whom the king had appointed captain and admiral of the fleet of many ships from divers parts of the realm and from Ireland and Wales going on the Western Sea on the king's service against the Scots, to receive into the king's will all those of Scotland and of the adjacent islands, who are at war against him and wish to come unto his pleasure. Licence for the alienation in mortmain by Walter de Stapeldon, bishop of Exeter, to the rector and scholars of the house of Stapeldon, Oxford, of the advowson of the church of Westwythenham, which according to the taxation of the tenth is taxed at 25 marks a year, in part satisfaction of a licence to acquire the advowson of one church of the value of 40 marks a year, according to the taxation of the tenth then current, or of two churches of the same value ; licence also for them to appropriate the church.

Grant to the aldermen and citizens of the city of London, as a further favour, the king having, 21 May, 14 Edward II, replevied to them the office of the mayoralty until the quinzaine of Michaelmas following, which office had been for certain causes taken into the king's hand before the justices in eyre at the Tower of London, and of the further extension of the said replevin until the present date, of the replevin of the said office during pleasure ; they may select a fit citizen to be mayor and present him to the king at the Exchequer in the usual way. Pardon to Peter le Munk of his outlawry, and to Margery his wife of her waiver for not appearing in court before the king, when impleaded by Florence, late the wife of John le Munk, for a trespass, to satisfy the king of that which pertains to him for such trespass, provided they surrender at the prison of the Marshalsea, and make such satisfaction.

Mandate for two years to all sheriffs and bailiffs, on complaint by the master and brethren of the hospital of St. Thomas the Martyr by Estbrugge in the city of Canterbury, to arrest all persons pretending to be proctors of that house, who ask and receive money, beasts, legacies, and other goods in the name of that house and convert the same to their own uses, and to deliver the goods found in the possession of such persons to the proctors of the hospital ; they are to pay no regard to letters of recommendation or admission to collect such alms which are without lawful witnesses.

Surrender to John de Warenna, earl of Surrey, of the castle of Holt (Castrum Leonis) and all the lands of Bromfeld and Yale in Wales, which Thomas, sometime earl of Lancaster, held for life of the demise of the said earl of Surrey, which castle and lands are with all other lands of the earl of Lancaster, on account of his rebellion, in the king's hands. Grant to Gerard Johannis, Bonus Philippi and Peter Reyneri, king's merchants, merchants of the society of the Bardi of Florence, who in their own name and that of the said society have undertaken to lend the king 4,000l. this side Midsummer, and to whom the king is also indebted in the sum of 2,298l. 0s. 6d. viz. 298l. 0s. 6d. paid by them to divers men in the 11th year, a loan of 1,320l. delivered by them in the Wardrobe at Gloucester on 9 February last, and a loan of 1,020 marks delivered in the Wardrobe on 1 March last, as appears by three bills sealed with the seal of Roger de Northburgh, bishop elect of Coventry and Lichfield, then keeper of the Wardrobe, that they may receive and hold the issues of the customs on wool, hides and woolfells in the ports of London, Boston and Kyngeston upon Hull until they shall be satisfied of the whole amount of these debts to wit, 6,298l. 0s. 6d., and of any other debts which the king may be bound to them. Whereas the king learned from an inquisition ad quod damnum made by his bailiffs of Scartheburgh that it would not be to his loss or that of others or the injury of that town if he should grant to the guardian and Friars Minors staying therein a licence to enclose a lane called 'le Dumple' in the said town, provided that they made on their own soil another way, as large and convenient for persons passing there, except perhaps to the prejudice of the Friars Preachers staying in the town, to whom the king had by letters patent granted licence to pave the said lane so that it should never be obstructed or narrowed ; and whereas by another inquisition made afterwards by the said bailiffs in the presence of the prior of the said Friars Preachers the king learned that a lane might be made by the said Friars Minors in place of the lane called 'le Dumple' as convenient and large and in all things as useful and necessary as well to the king as the commonalty of the town and to the passage of the said Friars Preachers to places without the town and of all others who wish to approach them, and in all other things whatever as the said lane called 'le Dumple,' if it were completed in the manner in which the said guardian and Friars Minors have promised the commonalty of the town ; the king grants licence to the said guardian and Friars Minors to enclose the said lane and to hold it to them and their successors for the enlargement of their dwelling-place, the grant to the Friars Preachers of licence to pave the same notwithstanding, provided that the Friars Minors make on their own soil a lane in the manner above set forth before they inclose the said lane called 'le Dumple.'
