The king had replevied to them until Michaelmas last the office of the mayoralty, which had been taken into his hands before the justices in eyre at the Tower of London and he had accepted their nomination of Hamo de Chigwell, to the office, for that period, and had delivered the custody thereof to the said Hugh, who still holds it.
