Mandate to collate and assign to Odo Ohegil, clerk, of the diocese of Connor (who was recently ordered to be dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) the rectory of Bailibonaid in the said diocese, of the patronage of laymen and value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, void by the death of Maurice Macblosgaid, summoning and removing John Macallarinan, priest, of the said diocese, who, under pretext of a collation made to him by authority of the ordinary after the collation had by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see, has unduly detained possession for three years and more but [less than] four (fn. 2), and on account of the inordinate favours enjoyed by whom Odo has no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Connor (Conue(n)trensis, rectius Connerensis); whether it be void as above, or by the non-promotion of the said Maurice to the priesthood within the lawful time, or in any other way, and notwithstanding that the pope recently ordered provision to be made to Odo of the archdeaconry of Connor (Conuentrensis), a major non-elective dignity with cure, of which he is not in possession and whose value does not exceed 10 marks sterling. He is hereby specially dispensed to receive the said rectory and retain it for life together with the archdeaconry, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as ofter as he pleases; provided that he do not hold two parish churches or perpetual vicarages or major or principal dignities, or one of each, and notwithstanding the said defect and the pope's late ordinance to the contrary [see above, p. 5] etc. Vite etc. (P and M. To the abbot of the monastery of Ballintober (de Fonte Sancti Patricii) in the diocese of Tuam alias Mayo, the vidame of Reims and David Walsh (David Valenti), a canon of Tuam. Mandate to collate and assign to Patrick Omulabaill, priest, of the diocese of Tuam alias Mayo (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest, a canon professed of the order of St. Augustine, and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself so promoted, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, of the parish church of St. Gerald de Mayo in the said diocese, so long void by the death of Nicholas Ocurba that its collation has by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see; whether it be void as stated, or by the successive death[s] of Thady Ymurchu or John Prindragras, or by the resignation of one of the said Nicholas, Thady and John, or be void in any other way.Vite etc. (P. and G. To the bishop of Killaloe (Laonien.), the prior of the secular and collegiate church of Inischathid in the diocese of Killaloe and Thady Maceraith, a canon of Killaloe. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Gillibertus alias Michael Omyir (fn. 3), priest, of the diocese of Killaloe (fn. 4), that Rory Omyir, perpetual vicar of Drumcleib in the said diocese, being a public fornicator, has dilapidated and alienated and uselessly consumed the possessions of the said vicarage, and committed perjury, to the shame of the clerical order) if and after Gillbertus (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which, having been so promoted, he obtained the said vicarage, collated to him by authority of the ordinary, and afterwards resigned it, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) accuses Rory before the above three, to summon him, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage, value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, to Gillibertus. Mandate (the pope having been informed by John Ocoisnechan, clerk, of the diocese of Connor, that Adam Odubuill, perpetual vicar of Rosarchan in the said diocese, being a notorious fornicator, has committed simony, and is greatly defamed about these things in the parish of the said church, to the shame of the clerical order) if and after John (who was lately ordered to be dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders, and hold a benefice even with cure, and who has had himself made a clerk, and whom the pope hereby absolves as in the preceding, and who from fear of the power of Adam has no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Connor) accuses Adam before the above three, to summon Adam, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, with cure and value not exceeding 6 marks sterling, to John; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death of Donatus Ocoisnechan or by the resignation of the said Adam, or be void in any other way. Mandate (the pope having been informed by William Miach, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), that Donatus Macmachuna alias Oconchubair, perpetual vicar of Kyllmiccrithinatraga in the diocese of Kilfenora, being a simoniac and a notorious fornicator, has dilapidated and alienated and uselessly consumed the possessions of the vicarage, and is defamed about these things in the parish, to the shame of the priestly order) if and after William (whom the pope hereby absolves as in the preceding) accuses Donatus before the above three, to summon Donatus, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, to William; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death of Gillibertus Yeachail or by the resignation of the said Donatus, or be void in any other way. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Nemeas Odroma, clerk, of the diocese of Kilmore, that Thomas Ocalmon, perpetual vicar of Tuaimreagayn in the said diocese, being a notorious fornicator, has committed simony and dilapidated and alienated and uselessly consumed the possessions of the vicarage, and is greatly defamed about these things in those parts, to the shame of the priestly order) if and after Nemeas (whom the pope hereby absolves as in the preceding, and who lately, without mention of his illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, had himself made a clerk) accuses Thomas before the above three, to summon him, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to Nemeas; notwithstanding that the present pope recently [below, f. 209] ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage of Ynysbreachmay alias Tempullmipuret (also written Tempullmpuret) in the said diocese, of which he is not in possession, and whose value does not exceed 8 marks sterling, and dispensed him by the same letters to act as a clerk and be promoted to all, even holy orders and receive and retain that vicarage. Nemeas, who alleges that the said vicarages are so near that they can be conveniently served by one man, is hereby specially dispensed, in order that he may the better maintain and keep up the wonted hospitality to the poor, etc., to receive and retain for life the said two vicarages, notwithstanding the pope's late ordinance to the contrary [see above, p. 5] and the said defect etc. Vite etc. (T. and G. To Walter Sybald, M.A. Collation and provision to him, who is by both parents of noble birth, of the parish church of Lyne in the diocese of Glasgow, which, as some allege, is of the patronage of laymen, and whose value does not exceed 13l. sterling, void at the apostolic see, and therefore reserved, by the death there of its rector Robert Cady, an abbreviator of apostolic letters, the pope for this turn derogating from such patronage, if any; notwithstanding that the pope lately ordered provision to be made to him of a canonry of Dunkeld, with reservation of a prebend, dignity etc., thereof, and of a benefice with or without cure wont to be assigned to secular clerks, even if a canonry and prebend, dignity etc., in the collation etc., of the bishop and the prior and chapter of St. Andrews, the letters of which mandate shall, upon his obtaining the said church, be null and void as far only as regards a dignity etc. and benefice etc. with cure. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Richard Ofyan, treasurer of Cashel, that John Ospellan, perpetual vicar of the prebendal parish church of Crochan in the diocese of Cashel, has, to the shame of the priestly dignity, publicly kept a concubine (focaria), neglected the cure of souls of the parishioners, is very ignorant of letters and has lived an evil life (fn. 6) ) if and after Richard (whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents, and who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, and who was afterwards promoted to all minor orders and that of subdeacon, and to whom the pope subsequently ordered provision to be made of the said treasurership, a non-major dignity, and dispensed him to receive and retain it) accuses John before the above three, to summon him, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, to Richard; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the deaths of Richard Motell’ or John Yhayr or Thomas Bretnach (fn. 7), or in any other way, and notwithstanding that he holds the said treasurership, which is non-elective and has cure, value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, with which is hereby dispensed to receive and retain the said vicarage for life, and to receive and retain for life any other benefices with and without cure, of any number and kind, compatible with one another and with the said treasurership and vicarage, even if canonries and prebends, dignities, etc., and to resign them all, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, notwithstanding the said defect etc. Vite etc. (T. and M. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Denis Omyrt, priest, of the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), that Matthew Ogrifa, perpetual beneficiary called rector of the parish church of Druimclerb (rectius Druimcleib) in ecclesiastical fee, in the said diocese, a notorious fornicator, has dilapidated and alienated and uselessly consumed the possessions thereof, and been guilty of negligence and sloth in divine offices) if and after Denis (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself so promoted. and who from fear of Matthew's power has no hope of obstaining justice in the city and diocese of Killaloe) accuses Matthew before the above archdeacon, to summon him, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said benefice, without cure and value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to Denis. 13 Kal. April. (20 March.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 203d.)	To the abbot of Lysgabayl in the diocese of Clogher and Bartholomew Oflannagan and Philip Osythygy (rectius Osychygy), canons of Clogher. Mandate, as below. Lately the present pope (upon being informed by Terence Ocayrbry, deacon, of the diocese of Clogher, that Patrick Ofuadachan, then perpetual vicar of the parish church of St. Fergus de Ynyscaeyn, in the said diocese, was a public concubinary and dilapidator of the goods of the said vicarage, and had committed other things [not here expressed]) ordered [above, p. 505] the abbot of SS. Peter and Paul's, Cluayneois, in the said diocese, and Edmund Magugyr and Thomas Olergussa, canons of Clogher, if and after Terence accused Patrick before them, to summon him, and if they found the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage to Terence. The pope has been informed by Thady Macgyllacosgly, clerk, of the said diocese, that after the said Terence had caused Patrick to be summoned before the said Edmund and had accused him, etc., Terence and Patrick agreed upon certain arbitrators, who ordained in presence of the said judge Edmund and of the ordinary that sentence of deprivation and removal should be delivered by the said judge against Patrick, and that provision of the vicarage, as being void by such deprivation, should be made to Terence, but that Terence should nevertheless allow Patrick to retain the vicarage for life and enjoy peaceable possession, in consideration of which Patrick should be bound to give and pay to Terence a certain sum of money; that after Terence and Patrick had consented to this award, the said judge Edmund promulgated a definitive sentence, which became a res judicata, by which he deprived and removed Patrick, and made collation and provision of the vicarage, as void by such deprivation, to Terence, and that Patrick, acquiescing in this sentence, has unduly with Terence's consent detained possession of the vicarage for about two years, as he still does, in accordance with the said agreement, without other title, and has paid the said money to Terence, thereby committing simony and incurring the sentences etc. inflicted on simoniacs. Seeing that the said collation and provision are without force, and that the vicarage is still void by the said deprivation, the pope orders the above three, if and after the said Thady (who is in about his twenty-third year, and who lately, notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, had himself made a clerk, has at Bologna studied and intends to study canon law, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as from only as regards the taking effect of these presents) accuses Terence and Patrick before the above three, to summon them, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to declare that the collation and provision made to Terence were and are null and void, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, to Thady; whether it be void by the said deprivation and removal made by the said Edmund, or by the resignation of the said Terence and Patrick, or in any other way. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Nemeas Odroma, clerk, of the diocese of Kilmore, that Rory Magambruan, perpetual vicar of the parish church of St. Medocius de Ynis-Breachmery alias de Tempullapyrt in the said diocese, has committed wilful perjury and, a notorious fornicator, has dilapidated and alienated and uselessly consumed the possessions of the said vicarage, and is greatly defamed about these things in the said parish, to the shame of the clerical order) if and after Nemeas (who lately, without mention of his illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, had himself made a clerk, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) accuses Rory before the above three, to summon him, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, to Nemeas, whom the pope hereby specially dispenses to be promoted to all, even holy orders and receive and retain the said vicarage. Mandate, at the recent petition of Nicholas Ohegeartarch (rectius Ohegeartaich), priest, of the diocese of Derry (containing that formerly, on the voidance of the rectory of Balenascrine in the said diocese by the death of M[a]urice Ogormaile, John bishop of Derry, after the collation had by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see, made collation and provision thereof by his ordinary authority to the said Nicholas, who under pretext thereof obtained possession and has detained it for about a year, taking the fruits), the said rectory being therefore still void, to collate and assign it, value not exceeding 6 marks sterling, to the said Nicholas (whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents, and rehabilitates), after he has duly resigned it. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Cornelius Magmurchayd alias Omurigean, priest, of the diocese of Armagh, that Geoffrey Olucherean, perpetual vicar of Domnachynor (rectius Domnachinor, i.e. Domnachmor) in the said diocese, has publicly kept a concubine and has laid violent hands on a clerk and wounded him, even in public, short of death, thereby incurring sentence of the greater excommunication (fn. 8), and, being under the said sentence, has in contempt of the Keys taken part in divine offices and sacraments, short of the ministry of the altar; and whose deprivation and removal was often, after lawful and canonical monition, proclaimed by John archbishop of Armagh, in the exercise of his ordinary visitation, on account of his insufficiency and because he did not pray or celebrate, and who is ignorant how to pray and celebrate, which deprivation and removal have not taken place (fn. 9) ) if and after the said Cornelius (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of an unmarried man or a priest and an unmarried woman (fn. 10), to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself so promoted and obtained by canonical collation the perpetual vicarage of Achadluuga in the said diocese, which he afterwards resigned, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc., dispenses on account of irregularity contracted by celebrating masses etc. when under such sentences [and rehabilitates], as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) accuses Geoffrey before the above three, to summon him, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage of Domnachinor (rectius Domnachmor), value not exceeding 7 marks sterling, to Cornelius, notwithstanding that the pope recently granted him provision of a canonry with reservation of a prebend and an administration or office, without cure, of Armagh, and dispensation to receive and retain them. Mandate to collate and assign to Odo Onarnayg, priest, of the diocese of Tuam (whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc., dispenses on account of irregularity contracted by celebrating masses etc. when under the said sentences, and rehabilitates, as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents, and who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a clerk and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself so promoted) the perpetual vicarage of Kyllmedaynmor in the said diocese, value not exceeding 6 marks sterling, void because the late Felimy Olochlaynd, having obtained it by canonical collation, held possession for more than a year without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation; whether it be so void, or by the successive deaths of the said Felimy and Gerald Ykayllai, priest, or in any other way. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Malachy Machayrthean, priest, of the diocese of Tuam, that Nicholas Olachnayn, perpetual vicar of Kyllmacllayn (rectius Kyllmaellayn) in the said diocese, a notorious fornicator, has dilapidated and alienated and uselessly consumed the possessions of the said vicarage, and, being excommunicate and publicly proclaimed excommunicate, has celebrated masses etc. in contempt of the Keys, to the shame of the priestly order) if and after Malachy accuses Nicholas before the above canon, to summon him, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to Malachy; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death of Dermit Micgillacomayn, priest, or because Eugenius Miceadagayn, [now] a Premonstratensian canon, entered that order and made his profession. Mandate (the pope having been informed by John Omulcruyn, clerk, of the diocese of Cork, that Thomas Omulcruyn rector of Kyllimidh, in ecclesiastical fee, in the said diocese, has committed wilful perjury and has celebrated masses etc. in contempt of the Keys in a certain place and church under interdict, and therein buried in cases not allowed by the law, persons who died interdicted, thereby incurring irregularity, to the shame of the clerical dignity) if and after John (whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) accuses Thomas before the above two, to summon him, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to John.
