(f. 84r.)
To the abbot of St. Mary's, O'Dorney (de Kyrieleison), and the prior of Ballinskelligs (Sancti Michaelis de Rupe), in the diocese of Ardfert, and the official of Ardfert. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of John Hussey, clerk, of the diocese of Ardfert, contained that lately, on the successive voidance of a canonry of Ardfert and the prebend of Glearnaredealle (?) (fn. 5)alias of Carrithlyayh therein, and of the rectory of the parish church of Ralsan in the diocese of Ardfert (which is of lay patronage), and their having been so long void that their collation had lapsed to the metropolitan, John archbishop of Cashel made collation and provision thereof to the said John; that, after in virtue thereof he had obtained possession of the said canonry and prebend, the said archbishop, with consent of the patron Nicholas Hussuye [sic], layman, united thereto for John's life the said rectory, in virtue of which union he obtained possession of the latter. The said petition adding that he fears that the said collation and provision are without force, and that some persons hesitate about the force of the said union, the pope hereby orders the above three to summon those concerned, and if they find the facts to be as stated, to approve and confirm the said union, and, pro potiori cautela, to unite anew by papal authority the said rectory to the said canonry and prebend, value 3 and 2 marks sterling, respectively, for the life of the said John Hussei [sic], and in the event of so doing, to collate and assign to him the said canonry and prebend and annexed rectory. Vite ac morum. (At the end: A. xxv. Quinto Id. Decembris anno quinto. de Petra.) [3 pp.]

5 Non. Oct.
(3 Oct.)
St. Peter's, Rome.
(f. 153v.)
To Fouke (fn. 6) Salesbury, dean of St. Asaph. Dispensation, as below. The pope lately dispensed him, then in his twenty-third year and holding the parish church of Dynbych in the diocese of St. Asaph, to receive and retain for life with it any other benefice, or without it any two other benefices, with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if parish churches etc., or dignities etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased. His recent petition contained that he has resigned the said church of Dynbych and obtained the deanery of St. Asaph, perhaps a major dignity, (fn. 7) with cure and elective, and the parish church of Blandurnok in the diocese of Bangor and holds them in virtue of the said dispensation. The pope now dispenses him, who is of knightly birth, to receive and retain for life with the said deanery and church of Blandurnok (or with other two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible with one another held by him in virtue of the said dispensation) any other third benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if a parish church etc., or a dignity etc., and to resign it as often as he pleases, provided that of such three incompatible benefices not more than two be parish churches or perpetual vicarages.
